From Harlem bedroom beats to a Bruno Mars remix and an arena warm-up slot
Austin Millz spent a decade making New York club rooms his workshop before pop came to him; in 2026 he put his name on a Bruno Mars single and is opening North American arenas for Bryson Tiller.
Harlem, FL Studio and ten years of booths
Austin Christopher Miller was born in Harlem on 30 October 1988 and is of Puerto Rican descent. He came to production sideways rather than through lessons: video games led him to the software FL Studio while he was still at school, and he started by chopping samples and assembling beats. He has said in interview that nobody in the family worked in music professionally, but that it played constantly at home, and that the pace and work ethic of the city set the terms for how much he made and how often he played.
By 2016 he was a regular presence in New York DJ booths, and that year he released his first single, "Limelite", with the singer Anishka. The club work came first and the catalogue followed it, which is the order that still shapes his output — most of what he releases is built to be played rather than sat through. In 2018 the Global Spin Awards nominated him three times in a single year: Breakthrough DJ of the Year, Regional Club DJ of the Year for the Northeast, and Regional Open Format Club DJ of the Year for the same territory.
The records, and the rooms they opened
"Bad Behavior", released in 2019 with Remi Wolf on the vocal, remains the track most listeners arrive by, with his remix of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" running it close. The EP Midas followed in 2021. The project that did most to establish him as a writer rather than an edit-maker was breathwork, released in 2023 through Ultra Records: six tracks with Sabrina Claudio, Estelle, Duckwrth, Alina Baraz, Destin Conrad and Justine Skye, sequenced deliberately as the stages of a night out, from the build-up to the comedown. The lead single was "Inhale/Exhale".
The hired-hand work ran alongside it. He DJ'd Beyoncé's Homecoming performances at Coachella and played Quincy Jones's AKG 70th-anniversary event, and he made his Boiler Room debut in New York in 2023. He has also described an enormous second life for his music on short-form video, telling one interviewer that his catalogue had passed 20 billion views across platforms and accounted for roughly a tenth of Instagram Reel sounds in 2022 — a figure that explains why a producer with no charting album has the recognition he does.
His first substantial headline touring came with the Fresh Air Tour, which opened in San Francisco in February 2024 and ran through to June across Europe and North America. The same year he appeared on Farruko's album CVRBON VRMOR with "TURBINA", one of the clearer signs that the hip-hop and Latin side of his listening was not decoration.
2025: a headline run, then fifty minutes in the Sahara tent
Through 2025 he toured under his own name as The Radiance Tour, a club-scale circuit rather than an amphitheatre one — the Denver stop, on 1 November 2025, was at the 500-capacity Bluebird Theater. The cumulative picture on setlist.fm is of someone who has logged dozens of American shows alongside dates in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Singapore, Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands and Sweden.
The year's set piece was his Coachella debut on 11 April 2025, scheduled in the Sahara tent from 2.55pm to 3.45pm. Fifty minutes was enough for five pieces of work, which says something about how he builds: the "Feeling Good" remix, "Sweat" with SKILAH played live for the first time, his remix of Bad Bunny's "NUEVAYoL", "Freeway" with Estelle, and Estelle's own "American Boy" with her onstage in a matching yellow outfit — her first appearance at the festival. He wore custom Kenzo, and explained the choice in terms he applies to the music as well, describing a label built from the marriage of different cultures and saying he approaches his own work by playing with different influences.
A Bruno Mars single, and a scattered release year
2025 produced singles rather than a project: "Right Now", "I'm Gonna Get You" and a remix of "oui". Then on 13 February 2026 came the development that changed his profile. "I Just Might (Austin Millz Remix)" was issued through Atlantic, an official remix of the Bruno Mars single that had come out on 9 January 2026 as the lead track from the album The Romantic, released on 27 February. Being commissioned to rework a major pop single while it was still live at radio is a different thing from the bootleg remixes that built his following, and his name sits on the release alongside Mars's.
The rest of 2026 has been release-by-release rather than album-shaped: "PLZ HOLD" with Tkay Maidza, "Bring the Noise 2026", and "Jingo", a collaboration with Ginton issued on 24 July 2026, which stands as his most recent record. No follow-up EP or album has been announced.
Arena support, autumn 2026
Since late summer he has been working the biggest rooms of his career as a support act. Bryson Tiller's The Neo Trapsoul Tour runs its North American leg from August to November 2026, opening in Utah and closing in Seattle before continuing to the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand into early 2027. Majid Jordan support every North American date; Ty Dolla $ign and Millz are on selected shows, with Millz cast as the DJ opener rather than a band.
Thirteen dates remain on his calendar as of early October, running from the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on 10 October through Austin's Moody Center on 13 October, the Honda Center in Anaheim on 22 October, the Intuit Dome in Inglewood on 25 October, Rogers Arena in Vancouver on 30 October and Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on 1 November, before a club show at Palm Tree Club in Nashville on 7 November. The arena slot is a plain trade: a fraction of the set length he gets on his own tours, in front of several thousand people who did not buy a ticket for him.
The show, now
The current show is a support DJ set, not a headline one. On Bryson Tiller's Neo Trapsoul Tour he goes on first of three or four acts in arenas and amphitheatres, ahead of Ty Dolla $ign on some nights and Majid Jordan on all North American dates, with Tiller himself taking the stage shortly after 10.30pm at the early shows on the run and playing a long set — 24 songs on opening night, with pyrotechnics. That leaves Millz an early, compressed slot worked from behind the turntables, built out of his own remixes and current hits rather than a fixed song list, with transitions doing most of the work. A review of the Mansfield stop on 26 September 2026 described him starting the night strongly with a mix of hit songs and smooth transitions that brought energy to the crowd immediately and set the tone for what followed. His own headline sets are a different proposition: at Coachella's Sahara tent on 11 April 2025 he had fifty minutes and used it for five extended pieces including live vocal guests, bringing Estelle out for "Freeway" and "American Boy". The Nashville date on 7 November 2026, at a club rather than an arena, is the one show on the remaining run where that fuller format is possible.
