Çift Terapisi: the marriage Berfu and Eser Yenenler put on trial every night
A Turkish comedy double act made of an actual married couple — one a BKM-trained sketch veteran, the other an engineer-turned-presenter — whose 75-minute two-hander has been touring since late 2022 and is back on sale for autumn 2026 after a difficult summer.
Two routes to the same stage
Eser Yenenler was born in Bursa on 14 February 1984 and started working in theatre at eleven, passing through several Turkish theatre companies before television. He took a degree in business administration at Marmara University and a master's in marketing and advertising, which is an unusual training for a comic and shows in the way he structures a show rather than simply tells jokes.
Berfu Yenenler, née Yıldız, came from İzmit in Kocaeli and read industrial engineering, also at Marmara. Her public life began on the pageant circuit — Miss Turkey, then representing Turkey at Miss International — and continued through television and a self-run YouTube channel built on family vlogs, beauty pieces and short comic sketches about motherhood. She has since fronted her own interview strand, Talk Show Perileri.
They met in 2017 and married in 2019, and now have two sons. The marriage is not incidental background to the act; it is the material. Everything the two of them perform on stage is drawn from the domestic record of the same relationship, which is both the show's strongest asset and the reason its content keeps moving.
The BKM apprenticeship
Eser's television debut came in 2003 in the series Aliye. From 2006 he was attached to BKM Mutfak, the workshop run under Yılmaz Erdoğan that has supplied most of Turkey's mainstream comic talent for two decades, and worked on the sketch programme Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar as presenter, writer and performer at once. Writing his own sketch material inside a company system, rather than developing a solo stand-up persona in clubs, is the single biggest influence on how Çift Terapisi is put together.
Wider recognition arrived through the judging panel of Yetenek Sizsiniz Türkiye, the Turkish edition of Got Talent, where he sat from 2013 to 2017. He hosted the talk show 3 Adam, and in 2018 launched Eser Yenenler Show on TV8 under his own name. He also dubbed the Turkish-language version of Paddington in 2014 and appeared in the film Prestij Meselesi in 2023.
The couple's first joint presenting job was announced in December 2023: Cevap Ver Türkiye, a Turkish adaptation of the American game show America Says, in which two teams guess how the whole country answered a survey question. New Year specials had already been recorded when the format was announced. It was the first time either had fronted a programme with the other, and it confirmed what the stage show had already established — that the pair work better as a unit than as two solo bookings.
Çift Terapisi, and what it actually is
The show premiered in November 2022 at the Istanbul Comedy Festival, held at BKM Tiyatro with Maximum Kart as the festival's main sponsor, and was billed as the first time a couple had performed together at that festival. Its structure is simple and firm: Berfu and Eser lay out the arguments, the jealousies and the small daily frictions of their marriage, then ask the audience to decide whether the two of them genuinely need couple therapy. Each performance also pulls a couple out of the house for a game, so no two nights run identically.
It kept selling out. The first anniversary was marked on 23 November 2023, back at BKM Tiyatro, by which point the show had been playing to full rooms for a year and had become the couple's main working vehicle rather than a festival one-off. On 14 February 2024 they played Bostancı Gösteri Merkezi, where Eser — born on 14 February — cut a cake on stage for his fortieth birthday; a second date followed at Ankara's MEB Şura Salonu on 26 February 2024. Summer dates included the open-air amphitheatre at Selamiçeşme Özgürlük Parkı in Istanbul on 20 July.
At one point the pair came off the show and then returned to it specifically to hand the entire takings to earthquake survivors, which is the clearest indication of how the production is run: a touring two-hander they control, not a packaged franchise.
Production has since moved under YSM Yapım, with Batuhan Soyaslan directing and Batuhan Mümünoğlu producing — a sign the show is being treated as a durable repertory title with a tour schedule rather than a seasonal comedy booking.
Where they stand in 2026
The most significant recent development is personal. On 21 July 2026 Berfu announced on social media that she had been pregnant with a third child and had lost the pregnancy at twelve weeks, writing that after twelve very difficult weeks with complications the pregnancy had ended the previous day, and that she was healthy. She said she was making the announcement herself to stop misinformation circulating about why she had dropped out of view. A further post followed days later.
The tour resumed afterwards, and Çift Terapisi has run through 2026 in Istanbul, İzmir, Bursa and Gebze. The dates currently on sale are an autumn run: Bursa at BAOB Sahne on 13 October, Ankara at Yenimahalle Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi on 31 October, Istanbul's European side at HOP Sahne on 12 November, and İzmir at İstinyeArt %100 Performans Arena on 17 November, with Sakarya also in the October schedule. Ticket prices run from roughly 600₺ to 900₺ depending on the venue, with a buy-two-get-one-free offer attached to some dates.
Four years in, the show has accumulated a measurable audience record rather than just press coverage: on one Turkish ticketing platform it carries a 4.5 out of 5 rating across 575 audience reviews, a volume most touring comedy titles in Turkey never reach.
What the comedy is doing
Çift Terapisi sits deliberately between stand-up and theatre. There is no character work and no narrative play; the two performers appear as themselves, trade accounts of the same argument from opposing sides, and let the contradiction do the work. The recurring engine is mutual escalation — how each partner drives the other to the edge, and how both think they are the reasonable one.
Since the arrival of their children, the material has widened from courtship and jealousy into parenthood and the way a marriage reorganises itself around small children. The couple have described the intended effect as therapeutic as well as comic, and the audience vote at the end is the mechanism that makes that claim land rather than sound like a slogan.
The reason it tours well in Turkey is that it needs almost nothing: two performers, two chairs' worth of staging, a microphone each and a room that can hear a conversation. It plays city culture centres, purpose-built comedy houses and open-air amphitheatres without rewriting, which is why it has survived four seasons without becoming a fixed Istanbul residency.
The show, now
Çift Terapisi runs 75 minutes as a single act with no interval and is sold with an age limit of eight and over; listings name no support act, so the only two people on stage all night are Berfu and Eser themselves. The staging is minimal — a conversation format rather than a set — and the shape is fixed: the couple present rival accounts of their own marriage, jealousy, arguments and life since becoming parents, pull a couple out of the audience for a game that changes from night to night, and close by asking the room to vote on whether the two of them need couple therapy. The venues are mid-sized and acoustically plain, from BAOB Sahne in Bursa and Yenimahalle Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi in Ankara to HOP Sahne in Istanbul and İstinyeArt %100 Performans Arena in İzmir, with occasional open-air dates such as the Selamiçeşme amphitheatre; tickets for the autumn 2026 run are priced around 600₺ to 900₺. Audience feedback is high-volume and consistent rather than effusive — 4.5 out of 5 from 575 reviews on one Turkish ticketing platform, with short comments along the lines of plenty of laughter and a thoroughly entertaining night — and the show has sold out repeatedly since it first played the Istanbul Comedy Festival in November 2022, marking its first full year of full houses at BKM Tiyatro on 23 November 2023.
