The best man and the worst: Blessd's two-album year, and the stadium he filled in Barrio Antioquia

Stiven Mesa Londoño went from freestyle circles and a fruit stall in Medellín's wholesale market to 42,000 people at the Atanasio Girardot in March 2026. He has since released a second album in three months, a pair of singles with Anuel AA, and is fighting an aggravated kidnapping charge in a Medellín court.

Itagüí, a detention centre, and the Mayorista fruit stalls

Stiven Mesa Londoño was born on 27 January 2000 in Itagüí, on Medellín's southern edge, and the backstory he raps about is a matter of record rather than myth-making. His parents separated and he moved to Bogotá with his mother, where he had a difficult time with his stepfather. A fight landed him in a youth detention centre. He went back to Medellín afterwards to live with his maternal grandparents and finished school at the Institución Educativa Pedro Estrada.

An uncle who rapped pushed him towards freestyle, and by the age of 15 he was battling in Bogotá circles. Studio time with the producer Lil Jay had to be paid for in cash, so he took early shifts helping his father and grandparents sell fruit and vegetables at the Central Mayorista wholesale market, and sold sweets to classmates after school.

The stage name comes from the Catholic faith his grandmother raised him in. He carries tattoos of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and crosses, and is routinely photographed praying before he walks on. The other devotion is football: he supports Atlético Nacional to the point of a badge tattoo, became a part-owner of the Danish club Vendsyssel FF in October 2024, and released "Himno de la grandeza" for Nacional on 15 December 2024.

"Una", "Medallo", and a Warner deal

The first break was "Una" in 2019, funded by a clothing-shop owner who paid for the video and good for more than three million YouTube plays inside six weeks. "Viernes Social", in October 2020, put him alongside the Puerto Ricans Alexis, Yomo, Amaro and Xantos and went to number one on Colombian radio with over a million plays in its first day. "Lejanía" followed in November 2020 with Ryan Castro, another Medellín singer whose rise ran parallel to his.

"Imposible", released in January 2021, did the real work. Maluma heard it, asked for a remix, and the pair shot the video at Maluma's house in May 2021 — a transfer of local credibility from the biggest paisa export to the newest one. "Hace Tiempo" cleared ten million YouTube views within a month that summer. His manager, known as Dr Velasquez, had him on JM World Music; in October 2021 he signed to Warner Music Latina.

The career-defining single arrived the same year. "Medallo", with Lenny Tavárez and Justin Quiles, went to number one in Colombia, passed 100 million YouTube views, reached 22 on the US Latin chart and 80 on the Billboard Global 200, and was certified platinum in the Latin field by the RIAA. Five studio albums followed in under four years: Hecho en Medellín on 27 October 2021, Siempre Blessd on 3 November 2022, Si Sabe on 25 January 2024, BlessDeluxury on 16 May 2024 and TRINIDAD BENDITA on 2 June 2025. The singles kept landing at home — "Si Sabe Ferxxo" with Feid went to number two in Colombia in 2024, and "Mírame" with Ovy on the Drums to number one. The awards shelf is thinner than the chart record: nominations at Premios Lo Nuestro, the Latin American Music Awards and the MTV EMAs, plus a place on Billboard's 2022 list of Latin artists to watch.

Two albums, three months, one argument

The 2026 releases are built as a matched pair. El Mejor Hombre del Mundo came out on 9 April, twelve tracks, with Ovy on the Drums, Myke Towers and Crudo Means Raw involved and guest turns from Anuel AA, Yan Block and ROA; it holds a narrow, personal line, and the title track sits next to the "Yogurcito" remix.

El Peor Hombre del Mundo landed on 19 June, fourteen tracks across roughly 44 minutes, and functions as the rebuttal. The production team — Los Money Makers, SOG, Kybba, Raven La R, Turbo, Monja and Blitz — keeps it between reggaetón, trap and broader urban material, with Jay Wheeler, Randy, Jon Z, Neutro Shorty, Kris R, De La Rose and Juhn among the features. "Provócate", with the Chilean Cris MJ and SOG, is the focus track. Blessd framed the record as an attempt at honesty rather than a moral example: the album, he said, comes from accepting his own contradictions and telling them without filters.

Commercially it did what the first one did, and more. In its opening week El Peor Hombre del Mundo took the whole top five of Spotify Colombia — "Mente Positiva" at one, "Qué Lío", "Agua Bendita", "Mero Tote" and "Provócate" behind it — with nine further tracks in the Colombian Top 50, nine of Apple Music Colombia's top ten, number-one debuts in Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador, chart entries in sixteen countries and 53 placings across international lists.

The Atanasio

On 9 December 2025 he announced his first large-scale Colombian tour, El Mejor Hombre del Mundo, with at least ten cities, a presale on 10 December and general sale the next day, and a minimum entry age of 14. The run took in Cali on 13 February 2026, Neiva on 14 February, Barranquilla on 21 March and Montería on 18 June. On 22 December 2025 he confirmed the one that mattered to him: the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín, his first stadium show in his own city.

It happened on the night of Saturday 28 March 2026, after an early-evening rainstorm, in front of more than 42,000 people, and ran about five hours from around nine o'clock, past midnight. He arrived on stage stepping off a replica Medellín Metro carriage. A mock-up of a Barrio Antioquia street block was built into the north stand for a quieter mid-show section. Roughly fifteen guests passed through: Maluma, Anuel AA, the Mexican group Fuerza Régida, Yomo, Darell, J Álvarez, Luis Alfonso, Zaider, Kris R, Kenny Die and the Combo de los Extraditablessd among them.

El Colombiano's account of the night described a crowd weighted heavily towards 15- to 22-year-olds singing the early material — "Barrio Antioquia", "Infieles" — back at him as generational property. Maluma came on near midnight for "Imposible Remix" and "Oe Bebé"; Blessd, in tears, called him his father in urban music. His message to the stadium was to fight for what they wanted and never accept being told they could not have it, because that is what neighbourhood kids who graft are like.

Where things stand in October 2026

The scale is no longer in dispute. He closed 2025 as the most-streamed artist on Spotify Colombia, and the announcement for his 2026 US run put him above 27 million monthly listeners with more than ten songs in the Colombian Top 50 at once, credited him as the first Latin artist to open the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris, and noted a sold-out first stadium show in Bogotá in front of 55,000. That US leg, promoted by Live Nation, ran sixteen dates from 8 April at the Mahaffey Theater in Tampa through Barclays Center in Brooklyn on 17 April and the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on 1 May, finishing at the Kaseya Center in Miami in early May — a deliberate mix of theatres and arenas rather than a uniform arena play.

Against that sits a criminal case. Prosecutors have charged him with aggravated extortive kidnapping over an alleged incident in El Poblado, Medellín, on 1 June 2022, in which a man named Andrés Felipe Sánchez was said to have been held for three hours, assaulted and threatened. His manager, known as Dímelo Jara, the lawyer Laura Moreno Restrepo and Julián David Giraldo Arboleda are accused alongside him. At the charging hearing on 11 June 2026 all four rejected the charges; a 16 June ruling refused the prosecution's request for detention, and both the prosecution and the alleged victim's representative appealed. Nothing has been proven.

He went quiet on social media for several weeks over the summer, saying he would only reappear with music, then released the solo single "ELLA" on 27 August 2026 and "Capcana Cocoa" with Anuel AA on 3 September, the video shot on the Dominican coast. The two have a history — "Mírame Remix", "Deportivo" and a joint RHLM x Blessd project — and Anuel has become the most frequent name on his recent credits. Three dates are currently on sale: the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina at the Kaseya Center in Miami on 17 October, a multi-artist bill with Farruko, Myke Towers, Anuel AA, Manuel Turizo, Eladio Carrión, FloyyMenor, Greeicy and Alleh; the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City the following night, 18 October, at seven o'clock; and Arena 1 on the Costa Verde in San Miguel, Lima, on 29 October, his first show in the Peruvian capital.

The show, now

A Blessd headline show in late 2026 is long by reggaetón standards and built around staging that quotes Medellín directly: the Atanasio Girardot night on 28 March ran about five hours from a nine o'clock start, past midnight, and opened with him stepping off a replica Metro carriage, with a mock Barrio Antioquia street block erected in the north stand for a stripped-back middle section. The arena version is shorter and tighter but keeps the shape — career hits set against the two 2026 albums, with "Condenado al Éxito II", "Instagram", "Se Supone" and "Joker" among the material carried through the 16-date US run that began at Tampa's Mahaffey Theater on 8 April and finished at the Kaseya Center in Miami in early May. Guests are the real variable and he leans on them heavily: Maluma, Anuel AA and Fuerza Régida all appeared in Medellín, alongside Yomo, Darell, J Álvarez, Luis Alfonso, Zaider and the Combo de los Extraditablessd. El Colombiano, reviewing the stadium show, described a crowd weighted towards 15- to 22-year-olds who sang the early tracks — "Barrio Antioquia", "Infieles" — word for word, and a long emotional exchange with Maluma near midnight over "Imposible Remix" and "Oe Bebé". Of the three dates on sale now, only two are his own: the Mexico City Palacio de los Deportes show on 18 October and Arena 1 in Lima on 29 October, where no support act has been named. The 17 October Kaseya Center date is the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina, a shared bill on which he plays a festival-length set alongside Farruko, Myke Towers, Anuel AA, Manuel Turizo and others.
