BUNT. and the vanishing DJ booth: a decade of folk-house, then a debut album

Levi Wijk spent ten years as a banjo-sampling remixer before "Clouds" turned him into a festival-circuit headliner. His first album, Levi Did It, arrives on 23 October 2026, half-way through a tour built on standing in the middle of the crowd rather than above it.

Stuttgart, a college partnership, and five labels

BUNT. started in 2014 as a pair. Levi Wijk, born on 3 January 1996 in Stuttgart, and Nico Crispin began making tracks together while both were students, signing to Kontor Records that year and later working under Interscope management. The name is the German word for colourful, written with a full stop. The early material sat in a lane that barely had a name at the time: folk house, with banjo, harmonica and picked acoustic figures run through dance production. Wijk's stated reference points run from Avicii and Swedish House Mafia to Justice and Basement Jaxx.

Crispin left the project in May 2021. He no longer makes music and runs a tennis brand of his own. Wijk kept the name and the catalogue, and the label history that followed reads like a decade of near-misses: Geffen in 2018 and 2019, a self-released stretch through Tunecore in 2022, and finally Arista Records in February 2023. The 2022 single "Paperplanes" is the hinge. After it the records drift away from folk house towards deep house and the stuttered, vocal-forward style he works in now.

The audience came before any of the deals did. Wijk built the project on SoundCloud, posting folk-leaning remixes to listeners who found him without a marketing budget, and he has worked throughout with the videographer Louis Kortmann, a close friend who doubles as his creative partner. The Hamburg-based operation that exists today is recognisably the same two-man setup, scaled up.

"Clouds", and the numbers that followed it

"Clouds", with Nate Traveller, came out in January 2023, gathered momentum on TikTok, entered Billboard's Hot Electronic Songs chart at number 15 and has since passed 500 million streams. It remains the track against which everything else in the catalogue is measured, and the point from which the touring business dates itself.

What followed was a run of collaborations rather than a conventional album cycle. The 2024 EP Levi Don't Do It carried "Trippin'" with Mapei. "Spaces", with The Chainsmokers and Izzy Bizu, landed in 2025 after Alex Pall came across his work; "i need u", with Malou, delivered his first number one on US dance radio.

The scale is easiest to read in the gap between two sets of figures. In March 2026 his own tour announcements put him at more than 200,000 tickets sold worldwide since the 2023 breakthrough. By late September 2026 the label copy had it at roughly 400,000 tickets and over 1.2 billion cumulative streams, across more than 350 shows on multiple continents. Whatever the rounding, the touring side roughly doubled inside six months.

Taking the booth away

The thing that separates BUNT. from the rest of the mid-tier electronic touring circuit is a staging decision. He performs "in the round": the desk sits in the middle of the floor, surrounded by the audience, with no barrier and no VIP pen. The early versions were improvised in small theatres with minimal security, and promoters resisted. "The same people who told me it was impossible are now the ones saying, 'We'll only book you if it's in the round,'" he told The Line of Best Fit in October 2025.

His own framing of the job is blunt: "I'm not a real DJ. I'm an entertainer." The priority is engagement over technical polish, which also explains the stranger bookings — he has played car washes, barbershops and markets across several continents, on the argument that dance music does not require a club to work.

The format has held up commercially. His first stadium headline, in Mexico City in 2025, sold out within two weeks; New York shows at Under the K Bridge and Pacha sold out; a German festival appearance put him in front of more than 100,000 people. Between 22 August and 3 September 2026 he took the round staging outdoors for the first time, with In The Round Open Air dates in Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg.

Levi Did It

The debut album lands on 23 October 2026 through Arista: fifteen tracks, titled Levi Did It, a direct answer to the 2024 EP Levi Don't Do It. The guest list is unusually heavy for a first record, with credits involving Taylor Swift, Zedd, Kaskade and Gryffin.

The second single, "Nothing Lasts Forever" with RØAM, was released on 25 September 2026 and was presented as arriving at the point where a decade-long dream started to look like a plan. The rest of 2026 has been dense with one-off releases — "Liebe" with JBS, "World Away" with Gryffin and Inez, "Stay" with Lauren Spencer Smith — alongside official remixes of Swift's "Opalite" and Zedd's "Clarity".

Recent collaborators listed in his own tour material also include Tom Odell, Tiësto and The Temper Trap, the last of those a reworking of "Sweet Disposition" that has become a fixture of the live set.

The autumn routing

2026 has been the heaviest festival year of the project so far: a Coachella debut, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Croatia, Electric Love, Lollapalooza in both South America and India, SonneMondSterne at the Bleilochtalsperre on 8 August, Sziget in Budapest on 14 August, North Coast in Bridgeview on 6 September, Glücksgefühle at the Hockenheimring on 4 September, the Coke Music Festival in Vienna on 4 October, and both weekends of Austin City Limits.

The headline run from mid-October is the more interesting half. Revel in Albuquerque on 10 October is followed by three consecutive nights at History in Toronto, 15 to 17 October. The Australian leg — announced on 4 March 2026, with general tickets from 6 March — takes the round staging to the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on 30 October, Brisbane on 5 November and PICA in Melbourne on 7 November. Corona Capital in Mexico City follows between 20 and 22 November.

Europe closes the year: the Gashouder in Amsterdam on 25 November, Academy 2 in Manchester on 26 November, a first appearance at Magazine London on 27 November, and Tension Winter Festival in Basel on 28 November. A festival date in Hannover is already on sale for 5 June 2027.

The show, now

The current show is a DJ-and-host set performed in the round: the desk sits in the centre of the floor with the audience on all sides, no barrier and no VIP area, which is now written into the booking rather than argued over. Headline sets run around 90 minutes — Crowdsurfer's review of the In The Round tour stop at Ali Youssefi Square, published in July 2026, clocked 90 minutes opening with "Love Tonight", with "TRIPPIN'" played twice because the first airing went off so hard, plus "Clouds", "i need u" and the then-new "LIEBE". Documented club and venue sets run to 13 songs, as at Pioneer Square in Seattle on 26 September 2026 and Austin City Limits on 2 October, typically opening with "Best Day of My Life" and closing on the Temper Trap rework "What If You Fly (Sweet Disposition)". Festival slots are shorter and denser: 75 minutes and 12 tracks at Sziget on 14 August 2026, six or seven songs at SonneMondSterne and Glücksgefühle. Wijk's own description of the job is "I'm not a real DJ, I'm an entertainer", and the reviews and fan accounts bear that out — the recurring note is proximity and crowd handling rather than mixing. Magazine London on 27 November is 18-plus, doors at 7pm, last entry 9pm, curfew 11pm; support acts have not been announced for that date.
