Camilo and the album he wrote for his daughters to find later
The Medellín songwriter who spent years writing other people's hits has built his fifth album out of Hans Christian Andersen and his own children's voices, and on 9 October 2026 he opens the North American leg of the largest tour of his career in Miami.
Medellín, a talent show and a long silence
Camilo Echeverri Correa was born in Medellín on 16 March 1994, in a house where the records on rotation were The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Shakira. In 2007, at thirteen, he won the Colombian television contest Factor XS, and the prize turned into a recording career almost immediately: the single "Regálame Tu Corazón" followed in 2008, with early albums under that title and, in 2010, Tráfico de Sentimientos.
What came next was not a rise but a stall. The child winner of a talent show did not convert into a touring act, and the early catalogue sat largely unremarked. He stepped back from releasing under his own name and, in 2015, moved to Miami — the decision that made the second half of the story possible, because it put him inside the writing rooms that supply the Latin pop charts rather than outside them waiting to be picked.
The writer behind other people's hits
Between 2015 and 2018 the work was authorship rather than performance. The clearest marker of that period is "Sin Pijama", the Becky G and Natti Natasha single he co-wrote, a song that travelled far further than anything carrying his own name had. Credits of that kind bought him a hearing when he decided to front material again.
The relaunch began in 2018 with "Desconocidos", and his mainstream solo arrival is usually dated to "No Te Vayas" on 28 March 2019. The breakthrough proper was "Tutu" with Pedro Capó, which won Best Pop Song at the 2020 Latin Grammys and pulled a remix economy along behind it. "Vida de Rico" followed, and so did collaborations with Shakira, Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez — the sort of guest list that fixes an artist's standing in a single year.
February 2020 brought the other fact that shapes the music: his marriage to the Venezuelan singer Evaluna Montaner. The couple's two daughters, Índigo and Amaranto, have since become not just subject matter but, on the current record, audible participants.
Four albums about a very small life
Por Primera Vez, released on 17 April 2020, reached number one on Billboard's Latin Pop Albums chart and set the template: domestic subject matter, acoustic guitar close to the microphone, a thin and deliberately unpolished vocal that carries more detail than volume.
Mis Manos arrived in March 2021 and produced the best night of his career at the Latin Grammys that November, when he took Best Pop Vocal Album for the record, Best Pop Song for "Vida de Rico" and Best Urban Fusion/Performance for the "Tattoo" remix with Rauw Alejandro. A sixth Latin Grammy came in 2023, for the long-form music video Camilo: El Primer Tour de Mi Vida. The general-field Grammys have been less generous: nominations for Latin pop album in 2021, 2022 and 2023, no win.
De Adentro Pa Afuera followed in September 2022 and cuatro in May 2024, both through Sony Music Latin, and both continuing a run in which the records function as instalments of the same ongoing account of marriage, fatherhood and extended family. It is a narrow brief, held deliberately, and it is what the audience turns up for.
An album for when they are older
Para Cuando Sean Mayores, his fifth internationally released studio album, came out on 9 September 2026: thirteen tracks across roughly thirty-five minutes, issued by El Taller Creativo and distributed by Sony Music Entertainment US Latin. It is not a children's record, though it is addressed to children. Before writing, he gathered versions of Hans Christian Andersen's tales in several languages, and each song works as a standalone story with a lesson attached — "El Titiritero", "La Nieve", "El Cisne", "El Ruiseñor", "El Traje". The opener, "Los Cuentos", is built in décimas and functions as the doorway into the sequence; the record closes on "Luna". The palette widens beyond his usual guitar pop into bossa nova and orchestral bolero.
"El Árbol" served as lead single. "La Medalla" is the duet with Evaluna, which he has said he cannot listen to without crying. "Chiquita" sets paternal affection against an upbeat rhythm, and the voices of Índigo and Amaranto surface across the album, some of it captured spontaneously during sessions.
Speaking to Rolling Stone en Español on 22 September 2026, he reframed the whole project: he had started writing an album for his daughters and discovered that he was the one who needed it most, calling it the album he has written most for himself. He described the reception as the most intense he has had, with listeners using individual songs as material for their own repair work.
A tour rebuilt twice before it reached the United States
The Camilo Worldwide Tour 2026 was announced in March 2026 as the largest international run of his career: 39 confirmed dates, more than fifteen countries, close to forty cities, across Europe, Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean and South America. It opened on 13 June 2026 at the Tenerife Music Festival in the Canary Islands, where he noted that playing there repeatedly had been a privilege, before moving through London, Paris, Milan, Dietikon, Berlin and Amsterdam.
The itinerary has not held. The Miami date was moved first: announced on 22 December 2025, the Kaseya Center show shifted from 18 April to 9 October 2026, with April tickets honoured and refunds offered at point of purchase. Then, on 25 July 2026, the promoter Zignia Live postponed three of the fourteen Mexican arena shows into 2027 — Mexico City from 28 August to 20 February, Monterrey from 4 September to 6 March, Guadalajara from 5 September to 5 March — citing logistics, scheduling and the creative process around the album, with a refund window running from 24 July to 24 September 2026.
What remains is still substantial. The run is booked to finish at Bogotá's Movistar Arena on 11 December 2026, with tickets there priced between roughly 99,000 and 600,000 Colombian pesos before fees and presales staged through TuBoleta from 2 to 5 June. At the time of that announcement he was reported as holding six Latin Grammys, more than 121 million social media followers and around 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Where the show stands tonight
The North American leg begins at the Kaseya Center in Miami on 9 October 2026, doors at 7pm and stage time at 8pm, followed by the Kia Center in Orlando on the 10th, the Coliseo José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan on the 11th, the Rosemont Theatre outside Chicago on the 15th and the theatre at Madison Square Garden on the 17th. Listings carry it under two names — the Worldwide Tour 2026 and the Para Cuando Sean Mayores Tour — and further dates run into March 2027 in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Mexico.
The staging has been described as taking its shape from the album's storybook structure, with Evaluna directing the visual side. The stated intention for this phase is a smaller, more conversational register than arena pop usually allows: stopping, noticing ordinary things, trading on emotional proximity rather than spectacle. Whether a 19,600-capacity basketball arena can hold that is the open question of the leg.
The show, now
A 2026 show runs to a hard 8pm start with doors at 7pm, and no support act has been announced for the North American dates — the bill is Camilo alone. The format is drawn from the new album's storybook structure, with Evaluna Montaner directing the visuals and the stated aim of a quieter, more intimate reading of the material rather than a production-heavy arena set; recent dates sit in rooms ranging from the 4,400-seat Rosemont Theatre to the Kaseya Center. On the preceding Nuestro Lugar Feliz run, setlists logged by attendees ran to around 23 songs with no encore, opening on "Bebé" and closing on either "Amor de Extranjeros" or "Vida de Rico", and taking in "KESI", "Pegao", "Tutu", "Ropa Cara", "Favorito", "Por Primera Vez", "Índigo" and "La Boda" along the way. Advance coverage of the current tour promises the same core hits — "Tutu", "Vida de Rico", "Favorito", "Índigo", "Pegao" — alongside material from Para Cuando Sean Mayores. As of 9 October 2026 no setlist from this leg had been logged, so the balance between the old hits and the fairy-tale songs is not yet documented.
