A Grade 8 sax and an economics degree

Charlie Jeer grew up in Canterbury and went to the Langton Boys School there. He picked up the saxophone at 11 after hearing Kenny G, and took it seriously enough to pass Grade 8 by Year 10. Then he did the sensible thing and read economics at university, keeping music as the sideline. He paid his way working security, ending up on the door — a job that puts a young player on the wrong side of the booth for a couple of years.

The turn came from outside music entirely. Posting online got him scouted for modelling, and at 21 he was cast on Netflix's Too Hot to Handle. He left the show with an audience, and with something more useful than an audience: a song. "Her Eyes" was written about a connection he made on set.

Her Eyes, and what to do with 88 million plays

"Her Eyes" came out in August 2024 and did not behave like a debut single. It has run to roughly 88 million Spotify streams, at its peak pulling close to 300,000 plays a day. Jeer's own explanation is about the instrument rather than the algorithm: the saxophone, as he puts it, transcends language, and a listener can follow it without being told what it means.

He is careful not to file himself under jazz. He describes the saxophone as the closest instrument to the human voice that has no words, and writes with it as another melodic line inside the production rather than as a solo showcase. Sade, Berlioz and Masego come up when he talks about what he is listening to; Kenny G is the reason he started at all. The two singles that followed, "Nobody" and "Sun Is Gone", kept the same shape — deep-house tempo, soft vocal, a sax hook sitting where a topline normally would.

Two EPs, ten months apart

Everything Is Temporary, the debut EP, arrived in December 2025 through Capitol Records UK under the Polydor Label Group. It was short, and it gathered the singles that had built the audience — "Her Eyes", "Nobody", "Sun Is Gone" — around tracks about love, friendship and the fact that neither holds still. Venue copy on the current tour still uses that record to introduce him, filing him under a modern jazz-house movement he has since started arguing with.

The second EP, Take Away My Problems, was released on 25 September 2026: seven tracks, pulling in "My Madonna", "SO GOOD" with the actress and singer Simone Ashley, and "small talk" with Cat Burns, who first got in touch by leaving a comment on TikTok. Jeer was blunt about what the record is for. It "isn't just another EP with seven love songs", he said at release, but "a space away from the chaotic and problematic world we all live in".

He was equally blunt about the sound moving. He talks about pushing himself out of his comfort zone in places and using the project as an "evolutionary soundboard away from just 'jazz house'". In practice that means disco-pop songwriting and fuller, denser production stacked on top of the live playing, with the saxophone doing less of the heavy lifting on its own.

Where he stands in September 2026

Capitol Records UK now puts the catalogue past 150 million streams worldwide, and his TikTok following was above 620,000 by mid-2026. The BBC used his music as sync during its FIFA 2026 World Cup coverage. The co-signs the label lists run through RUZE, Mahalia, Laurence Guy, KILIMANJARO and Bloody Civilian; the dance-side names attached to him in press around the Australian tour announcement include Calvin Harris, Black Coffee and Jamie Jones.

Some of those are working relationships rather than endorsements. "Mona Lisa" is a reworked track with Mahalia, and the Bloody Civilian video project was shot in Nigeria. The live record built up in parallel through 2026: the Great Escape in Brighton, the opening of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone on a bill with David Guetta, BitterSweet Festival in Poznań on 13 August, and a hometown slot at Canterbury Live at the St Lawrence Ground over 7 to 9 August, supporting Becky Hill and programmed with BBC Introducing in Kent. Shows across Europe, China and Australia sit behind all that.

The first headline tour

Every one of those bookings was somebody else's stage. The run beginning on 12 October 2026 is the first where the name on the poster is his, and nine European dates are on sale: Debaser Nova in Stockholm on the 12th, Ingensteds in Oslo on the 14th, Blue Note in Poznań on the 16th, Kantine in Berlin on the 18th, Rust in Copenhagen on the 19th, Nochtspeicher in Hamburg on the 20th, Yard Club in Cologne on the 22nd, Les Étoiles in Paris on the 25th and London on the 27th, with the Melkweg in Amsterdam on the 28th.

Demand has already forced one change of room. The London date was announced for XOYO, sold out, and was moved up to Village Underground, which is now sold out as well. Amsterdam has gone the same way: the Melkweg date in the venue's ANN room is sold out at €20.70 plus the house membership. For a first headline tour off the back of two EPs, that is the clearest available measure of where he is — the rooms are small, and they are full.

Australia follows in November: The Night Cat in Melbourne on the 5th, Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on the 6th and The Brightside in Brisbane on the 8th, announced in late June with tickets released on 2 July through Live Nation Australia. His own announcement was not run past a press officer. "I'M GOING ON TOUR!!! This is my first EVER tour and I couldn't be more excited to perform for and meet the people who make this all possible for me."
