Canarsie, a games console and an in-game radio dial

Dazegxd was born on 19 April 2002 and raised in Canarsie, on the south-eastern edge of Brooklyn, to a family of Jamaican and Ghanaian descent. The household supplied two of his reference points before he ever touched a sequencer: his mother played reggae and dancehall, his father played Ghanaian music and hip-hop.

The third reference point came from a screen. He has repeatedly credited the in-game radio stations of Grand Theft Auto III and the soundtrack work in Jet Set Radio with introducing him to electronic music in middle school, and internet radio — the sort of multi-channel stream that ran a different genre on every station, around the clock — with widening the net afterwards. He began making beats in his bedroom at eleven.

What came out of that was never one genre. Jungle and drum and bass sit at the centre of it, but the catalogue moves through UK garage, garage house, deep house, Jersey club, hardcore and R&B, often inside a single record. He has pointed to the Moving Shadow label, late-night East Coast radio and the talking drum as things he was actively trying to get into the music.

Eldia, and the deal that followed

The first releases arrived quickly and cheaply. The mixtape Daze's Saga landed on 21 April 2020, self-released; the EP xAKYN_ep followed on 25 September 2020, and d&db.nfo, made with the producer gum.mp3, on 7 November 2020. Daze's Game 3! came on 5 May 2021. Much of this circulated through the same online scene that produced digicore, where he was an early presence before the jungle material took over.

The collective mattered as much as the records. Eldia had been started around 2019 and 2020 by the producers Age and Optic Core; dazegxd joined in roughly August 2021 and brought in gum.mp3 and Swami Sound, and the group formally took the name EldiaNYC on 1 April 2022. He has described the New York dance underground of that period as building its own club sound rather than borrowing Jersey's, with renegade hardcore crews such as Fortified Structures and Helltekk doing the groundwork.

On 20 May 2022 he released his first album, vKiSS, through deadAir Records, the label he has stayed with. His own press materials note that The Fader placed it at number 33 in its albums of 2022.

Three albums in three years

The run that followed was dense. dSX.fm, a collaborative EP with quinn, came out on deadAir on 26 April 2023 and was picked up in Pitchfork's new-albums round-up that month. Girls Love Jungle, made with gum.mp3 and issued through Gum Studio on 18 August 2023, is the record that most clearly states the case for the American end of the 2020s jungle revival — breakbeats pushed at rave tempo, with the rhythmic detail of the source material kept rather than smoothed out. Resident Advisor reviewed it. Gospel Overture, with MON, arrived on 6 October 2023 on the same label.

Exhibition Mode, released by deadAir on 21 June 2024, is the third studio album and the most guest-heavy — a producer's record that hands verses out while keeping the drum programming in charge. It also named the radio show: The Exhibition Hour, his monthly residency on NTS, alongside guest mixes for The Lot Radio and Rinse FM.

The visual side has stayed consistent with the games-console origin story. There is a mascot, Dazegirl, and a self-released sampler series under the dazecore banner, of which seven have appeared.

Where things stand in September 2026

Dazegxd has spent two consecutive years as direct support for Jane Remover. He was on the Turn Up or Die run in 2025 — a 2 May 2025 date at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Massachusetts had him on in the middle of the bill, after d0llywood1 — and returned for the larger Live Exhibit North American tour, announced on 23 April 2026 and built around Remover's Revengeseekerz and the ♡ EP of December 2025.

Live Exhibit opened on 4 June 2026 in New York and ran a first leg through Toronto on 9 June, Chicago on 12 June, San Francisco on 15 June and Los Angeles on 18 June, with a Governors Ball appearance on 6 June. The autumn leg restarted in Minneapolis on 15 September and is mid-run: two nights at Paradise Rock Club in Boston on 20 and 21 September, Terminal 5 in Manhattan on 22 September, the 9:30 Club in Washington on 23 September, Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia on 25 September, The Eastern in Atlanta on 27 September, Stubb's in Austin on 29 September, Dallas on 30 September, the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, Colorado on 3 October, Portland's Revolution Hall on 6 October and the Neptune in Seattle on 7 October. A Mexico City date at Foro Puebla follows on 13 October, and he is booked at Public Works in San Francisco with Narciss on 7 November — a club room rather than a theatre, and closer to how he works on his own bills.

The most recent release is a two-track digital single issued on 25 July 2026, pairing 'put me first', a 2024 track with Cheetah, and his remix of Remover's 'turn up or die'. It went out under a Creative Commons non-commercial licence, credited from Brooklyn. There is no fourth album announced.

Beyond Remover, the live CV includes shows with Nia Archives, TisaKorean, gum.mp3, Brodinski and Quadeca across the United States and abroad.

The set

What he does on a tour like this is a DJ set, not a live-hardware show, and it is built for a room that has not come to see him. The report from the Cambridge date in May 2025 describes a genre-jumping set that mashed up more or less everything, to the point where a pop edit — a remix of 'Call Me Maybe' — was the thing that pulled a sceptical reviewer towards the floor. That is the operating principle: jungle and drum and bass at full tempo as the spine, with rap, hardcore and recognisable pop dropped in at intervals to keep a young, largely non-dance crowd with him.

On the 2026 theatre dates the staging is Remover's, and the support slot gets the house rig and a dark stage rather than any production of its own. Audience accounts from the June leg have concentrated on how unfamiliar the night sounds compared with the streaming versions of the songs — a fair description of the whole bill, opener included.
