Dennis Cruz: eight Thursdays at DC10 and a label with no genre
The Madrid producer behind Lemon-Aid, MÜSE and BotaniQ spent the 2026 Ibiza season as a fixture of Solid Grooves' DC10 Thursdays, went back-to-back with Carl Cox at [UNVRS] on 20 September, and brings the GOLFOS partnership with PAWSA into a Manchester autumn.
Madrid, and a late start in the studio
Denis de Galdo Troyano was born in Madrid on 28 March 1983 and began DJing at seventeen, treating it as a hobby rather than a career. Production came much later: he did not start making records until 2010, by which point he had spent well over a decade behind other people's music. The two names he gives as formative are Oscar Mulero, the Madrid techno DJ whose sets shaped a generation of Spanish selectors, and Michael Jackson — which explains a catalogue that keeps reaching for funk, dub and Latin percussion inside otherwise spare club records.
The early output moved through the labels that mattered in that end of house music: Saved, Deeperfect and Moon Harbour, with the Yoruba EP in 2013, LSD in 2015 and Hydroponic in 2016 marking the run that took him from a Spanish name to an international booking. Solid Grooves picked him up early and he became a core part of that collective, which is why his Ibiza history is measured in seasons rather than one-off bookings.
Speaking to Electronic Groove in July 2018, around the release of his Freaks EP on Hot Creations, he was blunt about what home gigs are worth to him: playing Madrid is "always extra special", partly because friends he rarely sees can come, and partly because "the crowd is amazing every single time I play". Asked what he would tell newer artists, the answer was consistency rather than inspiration — "keep working hard every day", and an acknowledgement that "it isn't an easy career".
Three labels, each doing a different job
Cruz has built his release schedule around imprints he controls. Lemon-Aid Music, launched in 2013, was the first. MÜSE, which he co-runs with Eddy M, is the more polished of the two. The third and newest is BotaniQ, which arrived on 9 May 2025 with a two-track EP of his own called Way Back — rolling drums, hypnotic texture, and no interest in sitting inside a single Beatport subgenre. His stated reason for starting it was freedom from classification: "BotaniQ is an idea that has no boundaries, meaning that I can showcase all the styles of music that I make, enjoy and play without being restricted to genres."
The launch record drew early plays from Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati and Cloonee, and the label put on its first party on 29 May 2025 at Lofi Courtyard in Amsterdam, pitched deliberately small. BotaniQ has since become his main outlet: on 8 April 2026 he released The Trip there with Iuliano Mambo, a producer he has worked with since 2012 under the name Mambo & Troyano, and a further collaboration with Bora Uzer, WTFA, followed on the same imprint.
The Trip is a fair sample of where his production sits now — a tight rolling groove, crisp percussion, warm low-end and a lot of restraint, built for the middle of a long set rather than a peak-time drop.
Roots, and the records that travel
The record that reframed him as more than a tech-house singles artist is Roots, his debut album, released by Crosstown Rebels on 29 October 2021 across a double 12-inch. Ten tracks, and a guest list that deliberately pulled away from the club: Lee "Scratch" Perry on Go Down, Leo Wood on What U Doing, P. Rivas on La Ratonera, a dub of Ahora Todo Va with Josh Butler, plus Ian Ludvig and Iuliano Mambo. It was framed as a record about where he came from, and the Latin and dub strands that sit at the edges of his DJ sets are foregrounded on it.
He has stayed in the Crosstown Rebels orbit since. His remix of Sykkelkurv appeared on Meera's Stikk EP on 30 August 2024, and his own account of the approach is instructive about how he builds tension: he went "a bit crazy" with the elements up front, then pulled the energy almost to a standstill through the breakdown before letting the track rebuild. The EPs have kept coming either side of the album — Uhuru in 2020, Bonito in 2024, Fabulous in 2025.
The commercial side of the story is a long run of Beatport number ones, enough for the store to rank him third among tech-house artists of all time. He has been named Best Artist at Spain's Vicious Music Awards and has appeared in DJ Mag's tech-house rankings.
GOLFOS: the two-DJ, all-night format
The project that has taken up most of his recent touring is GOLFOS, the back-to-back partnership and label with the London producer PAWSA. The name is Spanish slang along the lines of troublemakers, and the pair release through the GOLFOS TRAXX imprint. Musically it works as a contrast rather than a blend: Cruz's groove-led, funk-leaning selections against PAWSA's stripped-back minimal, held together by jazzy samples and a refusal to hurry.
GOLFOS has been building since the early 2020s, with appearances at Kappa Futur Festival in 2023 and both Circoloco in New York and GreenWorld Festival in 2024. Ibiza is the home base — DC10 on Thursdays in high summer — but the pair made their Pacha debut on Saturday 2 May 2026, opening the island's pre-season with a single extended set from 23:00 to 06:00. The pitch for that night was continuity: seven hours with no changeover, so the pacing and the tension could be built across the whole room rather than handed off every two hours.
That format now defines the difference between a GOLFOS booking and a Dennis Cruz booking. The solo dates are slots on a bill; the GOLFOS dates are the bill.
Where he stands in September 2026
The 2026 Ibiza season was the busiest of his career on the island. He played eight Thursdays at DC10 for Solid Grooves between 4 June and 3 September, added Marco Carola's Music On at Pacha on 7 August, the Music On Daytime session at Destino on 20 August — a 17:00 start before a DC10 set the same night — and Mau P's Baddest Behaviour at Pacha on 26 August. Off-island he took in Phi Beach in Sardinia on 15 August, Else in Berlin on 21 August and a Portuguese date on 11 September.
The season's headline moment came on Sunday 20 September 2026, when he went back-to-back with Carl Cox at [UNVRS], billed from 23:30 alongside Loco Dice and Mita Gami. He is also on the main-room line-up for the venue's closing party on 10 October, a bill that runs to The Martinez Brothers, Adriatique, Mochakk, East End Dubs, Franky Rizardo and WhoMadeWho. Ibiza remains the city he has played more than any other — 27 times by Songkick's count, ahead of Miami and London, with close to 30,000 people tracking his dates there.
Autumn moves north and then west. A Liverpool date at Blackstone Street Warehouse on 26 September is followed by two nights at Depot Mayfield in Manchester on 2 and 3 October for The Warehouse Project, which is running its twentieth-anniversary season. After that the schedule turns to North and Central America: EDC Orlando across 6–8 November, LooLoo in Mexico City on 13 November, and Futur Festival in Monterrey the same weekend.
The show, now
Two formats are in circulation. On a multi-room festival or club bill he takes a slot inside a rotating line-up: at [UNVRS] on 20 September 2026 he was billed from 23:30 back-to-back with Carl Cox, with Loco Dice and Mita Gami elsewhere on the night, and on 10 October he plays the venue's main room for a closing party running 23:30 to 11:00. The two UK dates currently on sale are both at Depot Mayfield in Manchester for The Warehouse Project's twentieth-anniversary season — Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October 2026, the latter running 13:00 to 03:00 as Josh Baker's YOU&ME takeover, billed as the promoter's only UK show of the year and spread across six spaces including the Depot, Concourse, Archive, Plant Room and a label party in the Star & Garter. Cruz appears there back-to-back with Seth Troxler, on a bill with Prospa, Enzo Siragusa b2b Chloé Caillet, Sidney Charles, Traumer and Shanti Celeste b2b Sally C; the promoter notes many rooms have already sold out, so there is no support-act hierarchy in the usual sense — the rooms compete. The other format is the long one: as GOLFOS with PAWSA he played Pacha for the first time on 2 May 2026 with a single uninterrupted set from 23:00 to 06:00, built for pacing and tension across the whole night rather than a two-hour peak, and the pair's summer home is Thursdays at DC10. Staging on both is conventional club production — no live show element, no visual narrative; the selection does the work, and the Latin, dub and funk material from Roots and the BotaniQ catalogue is where his sets separate from the rest of the tech-house field.
