Ella Boh stopped writing for other people, and sold out her first headline tour

A Los Angeles songwriter-producer who spent years on other artists' records, Ella Boh turned her own horror-tinted dark pop into a sold-out North American run in October 2026 and a European support slot that ends at Brixton in December.

Ten years inside other people's records

Ella Boh was fifteen when she began posting covers on YouTube, and the studio sessions that followed made her a working songwriter long before she was an artist with a project of her own. Her name first appeared on streaming services as a featured vocalist — on Max Styler's "Sleep Alone" in 2018, and on Brother Sundance's "Monsters" — while the bulk of her output went into rooms where the song belonged to somebody else. Credits from that stretch include work with Selena Gomez, Ben Böhmer, Jai Wolf and Freya Skye.

That apprenticeship shows up now mainly in the engineering. She writes and produces her own records rather than handing them to a production team, and in an interview conducted in January 2026 she was direct about why: "I don't have to worry about someone not liking it. I don't have to wait for validation from anyone else." She works out of Los Angeles, which is also where the live base is — the final night of her headline tour was a hometown show.

milk & honey, and a debut nobody had to approve

The first solo release under her own name, the EP milk & honey, came out on 1 August 2025 through Bamboo Artists: seven tracks, twenty-one minutes. It is the lighter half of the catalogue, and it did the groundwork — "a little bit", the track that broke out of it, sits at close to ten million Spotify plays and still functions as the emotional peak of a set a year later.

What milk & honey established was a method rather than a sound. Boh builds releases that connect to each other rather than issuing standalone singles, so the EP reads as the first chapter of something instead of a calling card. The second chapter went considerably darker.

BLURRY: five tracks, five versions of the same person

BLURRY was made across the second half of 2025 and is structured as a character study. Each of the five original tracks takes a different part of her head and gives it a name: "iNSOMNiA" is about not feeling real; "BLOODY MARY" works through a religious upbringing and what came after it; "LLORONiTA" handles abandonment; "STARLET" is about wanting to be seen and the power that comes with it; "SERiAL KiLLER", the lead single, came out of psychological thrillers.

The reference points she cites are screen rather than record — the television series You and Dexter, Paranormal Activity, Tim Burton — and the production follows suit, pairing plainly written vulnerability with horror imagery and a hard alternative-pop bottom end. She produced most of it herself and brought in Stint to co-produce, including on "SERiAL KiLLER" and "STARLET". "iNSOMNiA" took two full production attempts before it worked.

Her own account of writing is unromantic about inspiration and precise about labour: "I truly believe that songs just exist and you have to unlock them like a puzzle." The stated aim with BLURRY was that listeners pick a character and decide which one is theirs, rather than being told what the record is about.

The deluxe, and the summer everything moved

BLURRY DELUXE arrived in late July 2026 via Bamboo Artists with three additions: "PRETTY BABY", put on at fan request; "BAD MEDICINE"; and the title track, which Boh had written years earlier and only then recognised as belonging with the rest. The expanded version pushed the project past 12.4 million Spotify streams and more than 400,000 playlist adds, against a catalogue total of over 75 million lifetime streams and a listener base past a million.

The same fortnight carried her Lollapalooza debut in Chicago and the announcement of a first North American headline tour, with an artist pre-sale from 3 to 6 August 2026 and general on-sale on 7 August. The Brooklyn and Washington dates sold out straight away; Los Angeles, Denver and Dallas followed.

Two more releases landed in September 2026. The single "A Million Daggers" came out that month, and on 2 September she put out a studio version of "Careless Whisper", rebuilt as dream pop rather than played for the saxophone. The cover started as a live habit — "'Careless Whisper' is one of my favorite songs of all time so I started covering it on tour" — and the recording, she said, was "my gift to them for selling my first headline tour so quickly."

Where she is right now

The BLURRY headline tour ran twelve dates from 30 September 2026 at SPACE in Evanston to 20 October at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, taking in Pontiac, Toronto, Brooklyn, Washington, Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver and San Francisco, with Psylosia opening throughout. These were clubs — Baby's All Right, Larimer Lounge, Brick & Mortar Music Hall, where the 17 October show had doors at 8pm, stage at 9pm, tickets at about $36 and no stock left by the night itself.

Next is Europe, and a sharp change of scale. Boh joins Artemas on his UK and European leg, which opens on 12 November at Le Bataclan in Paris and closes on 14 December at the O2 Academy Brixton in London, with UK dates also in Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham. Her name is confirmed on a selection of the continental shows, among them Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette on 14 November, SaSaZu in Prague on 22 November and Progresja in Warsaw on 23 November; support billing on the rest of the run varies by city.

The practical read on the next two months is that she goes from rooms she can sell out on her own name to rooms several times the size where most of the audience will not know her. That is the usual test, and it is the one she has not yet had to pass.

The show, now

The current show is a headline club set of roughly twenty-one songs — that was the count at the sold-out Songbyrd Music House in Washington on 6 October 2026 — drawn from the eight-track BLURRY and the seven-track milk & honey, topped up with standalone singles and covers. The band is small: Boh out front with a guitarist and a drummer, which pushes the recorded material towards rock and away from the programmed textures on the EPs. It opens loud and under heavy red light before settling into the quieter writing, with "a little bit" the clearest crowd moment of the night, and closes with the "Careless Whisper" cover rearranged for guitar as an encore. Between songs she talks to the front row rather than performing at them — one fan shouting a declaration of love got "I love you more. I already told you you're not winning this game!" back. Reviews of the October run single out the voice as the thing that carries the room, described as beautiful and resonant, and note a young, largely teenage crowd that knows the words. Psylosia opened every North American date; in Europe, where she supports Artemas from mid-November, expect a shorter opening set in rooms considerably larger than the clubs. San Francisco's 17 October show had doors at 8pm, stage at 9pm and tickets around $36 before it sold through.
