Eleven free remixes and a 10pm door: ERGOSUM's one date on sale

ERGOSUM is a Toronto dubstep and bass producer whose entire public catalogue is other people's songs, given away. On Friday 16 October 2026 that catalogue gets its first billed room, opening for AVELLO at The Mod Club on College Street.

The record starts with a handle

Everything publicly established about ERGOSUM routes through a single links page. From there: an Instagram and a TikTok under the handle ergosum.wav, a SoundCloud profile under ergosummusic, a Spotify artist page, and a Gmail address for bookings. The genre tag the artist applies to their own work is dubstep. The city attached to the name in listings metadata is Toronto, Ontario.

There is no management company named anywhere on that page, no label, no publicist, no biography. That is not an oversight so much as a description of the career stage: the producer is also the entire back office. As of October 2026 the searchable record contains no interview, no feature and no review of an ERGOSUM set. What can be established is the shape of the output and the existence of exactly one ticketed date.

Both of those are worth looking at closely, because the output is unusually legible. A catalogue built entirely in public, on free-download platforms, leaves a clearer trail than most unsigned acts manage.

A catalogue made of other people's songs

Eleven remixes are listed on the links page, each pointing at SoundCloud. Three of them circle one artist: Crankdat's "Movement", Crankdat's "Whiplash", and "TYPE SH*T", the Crankdat and NGHTMRE track featuring Duke Deuce. A fourth comes from the same part of the room — "Eyes Cut Deeper" by Subtronics and Inéz. That cluster is peer-facing work, aimed squarely at the audience that already buys tickets for American bass headliners.

The other half of the list reaches outside dance music entirely. Sleep Token's "Emergence" gets a dubstep version. So do Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!", Lola Young's "Messy", M83's "Solitude" in its Felsmann + Tiley form, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and A-Trak reading of "Heads Will Roll". Marshmello's "Just Can't Stop" and The Chainsmokers' "White Wine & Adderall" sit in between. The source material there is rock, indie and pop with its own existing fanbase, and remixing it is a way of borrowing that fanbase for ninety seconds at a time.

The notes attached to each are terse to the point of comedy — "Dubstep! FREE DL" on the Lola Young flip, "a fun one to work on" on the Chappell Roan. Most are given away, routed through Hypeddit, the gate that exchanges a download for a follow or an email address. Nothing on the page is for sale.

That is the working economy of unsigned bass music now, and it is worth being plain about what it does and does not do. A bootleg is not a release: it is not cleared, it does not pay, it does not accrue to a catalogue the artist owns. What it buys is distribution and a mailing list. The links page promotes no original single alongside the remixes, which makes the next twelve months the interesting part — a remix following converts into a career only once there is something of the producer's own to convert it into.

October 2026: one date on sale

The single ticketed date is Friday 16 October 2026 at The Mod Club, 722 College Street, Toronto, with a 10pm start. ERGOSUM is not the headliner. The listing reads AVELLO with ERGOSUM, and tickets run through Ticketmaster with mirrored inventory on SeatGeek and Live Nation.

The billing is slightly inconsistent across the ticketing chain, in a way that says something about how the slot came about. Toronto's local listings carry both names. Live Nation's artist page for the same night lists AVELLO with no support, and JamBase's venue calendar reads it as a straight headline show. That pattern — the opener present on the local listing and absent from the national ticketing pages — is what a locally added support act normally looks like. The slot is real; it simply was not part of the tour announcement.

At the time of writing the show is four days away. There is no second date under the name, in Toronto or anywhere else.

722 College Street

The room matters here more than it usually would for a support slot. The Mod Club opened in 2002 in a converted Little Italy pool hall called The Corner Pocket, and the man who converted it, Bruno Sinopoli, still owns it. It traded as The Mod Club Theatre until the COVID lockdowns closed it in 2020, reopened in late 2021 as The Axis Club under Orin Bristol of INK Entertainment, and reverted to its original name on 14 June 2025. The Weeknd played his first concert there in 2011.

Capacity is listed at roughly 618 standing by one reference and 680 by another — in practice a general-admission room of somewhere between six and seven hundred. The Axis Club refit added LED walls and a multi-camera setup, which means an opener inherits a production rig better than the capacity would suggest. For a producer whose work has so far existed as audio files and short-form video, that is the first meaningful test: whether a set assembled for phone speakers holds a loud room with a wall of screens behind it.

The bill above them

AVELLO is in the middle of a run of eight dates across two countries. The week of the Toronto show alone takes in the Valley Of The Seven Stars festival in Arrington, Virginia from 9 to 11 October, The Mod Club on the 16th, and The Chocolate Factory in Brooklyn the following night. November brings Electric Daisy Carnival in Orlando, a Detroit date on Steve Aoki's Dim Mak 30 tour, the Ogden Theatre in Denver on the 20th and The Grand in Boston on the 27th, with Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton on 5 December closing it out.

Toronto is one of the headline club nights on that schedule rather than a festival stop, which sets the terms for the support set: a paying room that bought tickets specifically for heavy American bass, arriving early enough to be there at ten. The remix catalogue is well matched to it — the Crankdat and Subtronics flips in particular are pitched at exactly that crowd.

What follows the 16th is unannounced. No further dates are on sale, no original release is being promoted, and no set from the project has yet been written about anywhere. The Mod Club date is the first thing in the ERGOSUM story that can be measured by anyone other than the artist.

The show, now

The only ERGOSUM show currently on sale is a support slot: Friday 16 October 2026 at The Mod Club, 722 College Street in Toronto's Little Italy, with a 10pm start, under headliner AVELLO. The venue is general-admission standing, listed at roughly 618 to 680 capacity depending on the source, and carries LED walls and a multi-camera rig installed during its 2021 refit as The Axis Club before it took its original name back on 14 June 2025. No set length is published, and local listings are the only place the support billing appears — Live Nation and JamBase show the night as an AVELLO headline with no opener, which is the usual signature of a locally added support act. The material is likely to be remix-led, since the published catalogue is entirely remixes: Crankdat and Subtronics flips for the bass crowd, Sleep Token, Chappell Roan and Yeah Yeah Yeahs versions for everyone else. No review of an ERGOSUM set has been published anywhere in the searchable record, and no setlist from a previous show exists, so the 16th is the first performance that can be judged from outside.
