Finojet: five gigs, a prison yard, and a first headline run of Europe

Finojet Rudd fronted a four-piece surf-rock band out of northern New South Wales for a year before going solo in 2025. Thirteen months after his self-titled debut album, he is headlining his own European tour rather than opening someone else's — the run starts in London on 8 October 2026 and ends in Madrid on the 28th.

Northern Rivers, and a household full of players

Finojet Rudd comes from the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, and the earliest public traces of him are as a member of a band rather than a name at the top of a poster. In November 2023 the Gold Coast music site Yelo announced a free show at Mo's Desert Clubhouse in Burleigh Heads for 10 December, built around the two sons of the roots musician Xavier Rudd: Finojet playing with his surf-rock band Calypso Cora, and his brother Joaquin Noah playing his own material as a multi-instrumentalist.

That is the frame he started inside, and it has not entirely let go — Apple Music still lists Calypso Cora and Xavier Rudd as the two closest related artists to the solo project. What the surname bought him early was access to rooms rather than an audience of his own, and the first few years of the story are essentially about converting the former into the latter.

Five shows, then Fremantle Prison

Calypso Cora was a four-piece with Rudd on vocals, drawing on Brit-rock and ska-reggae alongside surf-pop guitars. On 1 March 2024 the band opened for Xavier Rudd at Fremantle Prison in Western Australia. The Rockpit's review of that night recorded a detail worth keeping: the band had played a total of five shows before taking the slot. They performed their debut single, "Be Yours", and closed with the first song they had ever written — guitars and a tambourine, light pop-rock, a crowd clapping along. The reviewer sent the band towards listeners of Lime Cordiale and Winston Surfshirt, which is a fair description of where that material sat.

Thirteen months later the billing had changed. For Xavier Rudd's Freedom Sessions run in April 2025, Finojet appeared under his own name across all three dates: Thursday 17 April at The Station in Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast, Saturday 26 April at 3 Oceans Winery in Margaret River, and Sunday 27 April back at Fremantle Prison. Same yard, same headliner, no band name in front of him.

The self-titled record

The solo project arrived properly in 2025. "Your Monaco" came first, followed by an EP, Finojet, Pt. 1, and by two more singles that year, "When Tomorrow's People Sleep" and "Head Under Waterfalls". The album, also self-titled, was released on 18 September 2025: eleven tracks, forty-two minutes, issued under the FXR Nation imprint and filed by Apple Music under pop rather than folk. "Dinner Table", "Head Under Waterfalls", "Your Monaco" and "Lester Banks" are the tracks that have pulled the most streams.

Promoters have settled on a consistent description of what the record does — anthemic indie-folk hooks set against quieter singer-songwriter writing, atmospheric arrangements, narratives drawn from his own life. That is publicity copy and reads like it, but it matches the shape of the release: loud choruses that work in a support slot, surrounded by material that needs a room to go quiet.

The support slots did most of the lifting. The Paris and Vienna promoters both list the same three: Hollow Coves in Canada, The Head & The Heart in Australia, Xavier Rudd in Europe. His first European dates on record came in October 2025 — La Nouvelle Vague in St Malo on the 18th, the Centre Culturel Le Family in Landerneau on the 19th, and the O2 Academy in Bristol on the 22nd.

Where things stand in October 2026

The most recent release is a single, "Aescher Song (Tangled In Knots)", put out on 11 April 2026. No second album has been announced, and nothing has appeared on the discography since — which makes the current tour a campaign around a year-old record plus one new song rather than a launch.

Songkick lists fourteen shows across seven countries. The run opens at The Grace in London on 8 October 2026, then Supersonic Records in Paris on the 9th, Jaki in Cologne on the 15th, Nochtspeicher in Hamburg on the 16th, Mikropol in Berlin on the 17th, B72 in Vienna on the 19th, the Kranhalle at Feierwerk in Munich on the 20th, Konzerthaus Schüür in Lucerne on the 21st, Papiersaal in Zürich on the 23rd, Razzmatazz 3 in Barcelona on the 27th and Moby Dick Club in Madrid on the 28th. The Milan date at Arci Bellezza on 24 October is listed as cancelled.

One billing is worth noting: the Vienna show at B72 is presented as an FM4 Indiekiste night, which puts it under the banner of Austria's national youth station rather than a cold promoter booking. Tom River is listed as support there.

The rooms and the price of entry

These are small venues booked for a first headline circuit — club rooms and back rooms rather than theatres, which is the honest read on where the solo audience currently sits after a year of opening slots. The Paris show at Supersonic Records on Rue Biscornet runs from 8pm to 10.30pm, with tickets at €17 in advance and €20 on the door, sold through DICE, and under-16s admitted only with a legal guardian. Tickets for that date went on sale at 10am on 20 March. The Berlin show at Mikropol on Nollendorfplatz starts at 7.30pm. In Vienna, doors are at 7pm for an 8pm start.

The step from support act to headliner is the thing to watch across this run. In 2025 he was playing to other people's crowds in rooms as large as the O2 Academy Bristol; in 2026 he is selling his own tickets into rooms a fraction of that size. Whether the Northern Rivers songs hold a club on their own, in cities where the surname means considerably less than it does in Fremantle, is what these three weeks will settle.

What the set is built on

No professional review of a solo Finojet headline show has surfaced yet, so the clearest evidence of what the current set does comes from promoter copy and from the one reviewed performance on record. The promoters in Berlin and Vienna both describe a multi-instrumentalist show: several guitars, percussion and loop equipment carried on stage, with passages of crowd interaction alternating against stretches played quietly and alone.

The reviewed precedent is the 2024 Fremantle Prison support slot, where a four-piece with five gigs behind it got a stranger's crowd moving and closed with its oldest song. The instinct that night — play the catchy thing, then play the sincere thing — is recognisably the same instinct the album runs on.

The show, now

A 2026 Finojet headline show is a club booking of roughly two and a half hours end to end — the Paris date at Supersonic Records is scheduled 8pm to 10.30pm, Vienna has doors at 7pm for an 8pm start, Berlin's Mikropol starts at 7.30pm. Tom River is billed as support in Vienna, where the night runs under the FM4 Indiekiste banner. The staging is deliberately small: the Berlin and Vienna promoters both describe him arriving with several guitars, percussion and loop equipment and working alone across them, swinging between stretches of direct crowd interaction and passages played quietly on acoustic guitar. The setlist is drawn from the self-titled 2025 album — "Your Monaco", "Head Under Waterfalls", "Dinner Table" and "Lester Banks" are its most-played tracks — plus the April 2026 single "Aescher Song (Tangled In Knots)". No review of a solo headline set has been published yet; the only reviewed performance on record is the Calypso Cora support slot at Fremantle Prison on 1 March 2024, where The Rockpit found a four-piece with five shows to its name getting a headliner's crowd clapping along, and closing on the first song the band ever wrote. Tickets are priced accordingly for the size of room — €17 in advance and €20 on the door in Paris.
