Five in the tunnel: ITZY's re-signed line-up takes its third world tour to Europe

Seven years after a record-breaking debut, JYP Entertainment's ITZY have renewed their contracts, put out two EPs in six months and brought their Tunnel Vision tour to arenas on four continents. The European leg opens at Wembley on 11 September 2026.

Built for a fast start

ITZY were assembled by JYP Entertainment in Seoul and debuted on 12 February 2019 with five members: Yeji, the leader, plus Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna. The training histories behind that line-up were uneven. Chaeryeong had spent five years as a trainee after appearing on the survival programme Sixteen, Ryujin four years after being scouted at a Got7 concert, and Yeji and Yuna three years apiece after passing auditions in 2015. Lia, who had first been accepted by SM Entertainment before choosing JYP, trained for only two.

The debut single, Dalla Dalla, did the work of several years in a matter of days. Its video passed 17.1 million views in its first 24 hours, then a record for a K-pop debut, and the group took their first music-show trophy eight days after release, the fastest a girl group had managed. The single peaked at number two on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart and was certified platinum by the Korea Music Content Association, the first debut song to do so since 2018. By the end of 2019 ITZY had won all five of the major Rookie of the Year awards, a sweep the Korean press labelled a rookie grand slam.

Million-sellers and the Billboard years

The records that followed established the group as a reliable chart act rather than a one-single phenomenon. It'z Me, released in 2020, topped the Gaon Album Chart. Crazy in Love, their first full-length album in 2021, reached number 11 on the US Billboard 200. Checkmate, the fifth EP in 2022, went to number eight on that chart and sold more than a million copies, and the EPs that followed it, Cheshire in 2022 and Kill My Doubt in 2023, each passed the million mark too.

Japan came in parallel. The group's Japanese debut singles, Voltage and Blah Blah Blah, both peaked at number three on the Oricon Singles Chart in 2022, and a first Japanese studio album, Ringo, reached number seven on the Oricon Combined Albums Chart in 2023. Touring scaled with the sales: the Checkmate World Tour ran to 20 dates across Asia and North America between August 2022 and April 2023.

The pause and the re-signing

The group's momentum was interrupted in September 2023, when Lia announced a temporary hiatus, saying she had come to realise she had been gradually losing herself in the years since debut. She returned to group activities in July 2024, after treatment and rest for anxiety, an absence of close to ten months. ITZY carried on as four in the meantime, releasing Born to Be in early 2024, an EP that gave each member a solo track, and taking the Born to Be World Tour through 32 shows in 28 cities between February and August 2024, including a sold-out arena debut in Australia and five dates in Europe. Gold, later in 2024, became their seventh appearance on the Billboard 200.

The larger question over the group was contractual. Korean idol contracts typically run seven years, and ITZY's were due to expire around February 2026. On 21 September 2025 JYP Entertainment confirmed that all five members had renewed, describing the decision as one of mutual trust and pledging platforms for members to show individual talents alongside group work. The Korea Times noted at the time that the group's later projects had not matched the commercial heights of the debut era but that they had kept up steady momentum. In an interview published on 18 May 2026, Lia said that spending so much time together and renewing their contracts had brought stability and a deeper understanding within the group.

Tunnel Vision and Motto

The first release after the renewal was Tunnel Vision, an eleventh EP announced on 17 October 2025 and released on 10 November through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. Its six tracks, opening with a short intro called Focus that all five members co-wrote, pull together hip-hop, industrial, UK garage, R&B and hyperpop, with production from Dem Jointz, Ryan Jhun, Kenzie and Ronny Svendsen among others. The EP peaked at number three on South Korea's Circle weekly chart, number four on Billboard's World Albums chart and number 22 on the Oricon weekly chart, and was certified platinum in Korea for 250,000 units. A world tour was announced on 29 October 2025, before the record was even out.

Six months later came Motto, a twelfth EP released on 18 May 2026. Its title track, described by the members as a deliberate turn towards brighter, more energetic material after the darker themes of Tunnel Vision, sits alongside Glitch and You and I, and the record also collects the five solo songs each member had been performing on tour: Pocket for Yeji, Asylum for Lia, Look for Ryujin, Undefined for Chaeryeong and Tangerine for Yuna. Chaeryeong has said Undefined began life as a slower jazz piece before the tempo was raised for the concert. Motto reached number four on the Circle weekly chart, number 16 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart and number seven on World Albums, earned another Korean platinum certification, and was named by Billboard among the 25 best K-pop albums of 2026 so far. Yeji called it a direct love letter to the group's fans, known as MIDZY.

On the road in 2026

The Tunnel Vision World Tour opened with three nights at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on 13, 14 and 15 February 2026, the group's first tour with all five members since Lia's return. Australia followed in April, with John Cain Arena in Melbourne on 17 April and the ICC Sydney on 19 April, billed as a return after the sold-out arena debut of 2024. A planned Auckland show at Spark Arena on 22 April was cancelled, with the promoter citing unforeseen circumstances. The Asian leg then ran through Japan, Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Arena on 20 June, Impact Arena in Bangkok on 4 July and SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on 11 July.

Wikipedia's tally puts the tour at 19 shows across Asia, Oceania and Europe. The European run is four dates in a week: OVO Arena Wembley in London on 11 September, AFAS Live in Amsterdam on 13 September, Zénith Paris La Villette on 15 September and Festhalle Frankfurt on 17 September. A further date at Singapore Indoor Stadium is listed for 3 October 2026. That is a smaller European footprint than the five shows of 2024, but it comes with a stronger catalogue and, for the first time since 2023, the full line-up on every stage.

What the show looks like

Setlist records from 14 of the tour's shows describe a consistent structure of roughly 30 songs. A recorded intro, Focus, gives way to Tunnel Vision as the opener at almost every date, followed by a run through DYT, Girls Will Be Girls, Walk, Kiss & Tell and the early hit Wannabe. A middle stretch pairs Supernatural and Nocturne with Imaginary Friend and the new title track Motto, before the show breaks into five solo stages, one per member, using the songs later gathered on the Motto EP. The set then rebuilds with Gold and a western-themed section built around Wild Wild West, which Lia has singled out as the point where the exchange of energy with the crowd is at its strongest, and closes the main set with In the Morning, Sorry Not Sorry, Not Shy and Loco.

After a video interlude, the encore runs through Mirror, Five, 8-Bit Heart, Sneakers and Cake before Dalla Dalla, the song that started everything, sends the room home.
