Önder Doğan's four languages: how Murda turned a Dutch number one into a Turkish touring career

Murda has spent nearly two decades moving between Dutch, English and Turkish rap, and since 2019 the Turkish half has led. UZAY, released at the end of September 2026 and named after his son, is the record behind the tour that opens in Baku on 30 October.

Amsterdam-Noord, Madrid, Istanbul

Önder Doğan was born in Amsterdam-Noord on 30 January 1984 to parents who worked in theatre. The household music was Sezen Aksu, 1970s rock and Michael Jackson rather than anything from one tradition, and the family did not stay put: a stretch of childhood in Madrid, international school there, then a move to Istanbul. A cousin handed him hip-hop. By the time he began releasing his own material in the late 2000s — the EP Turkse Pizza appeared in 2008 — the defining condition of the career was already in place, which was four working languages and no single home scene.

He records in Dutch, English and Turkish, performs under Murda and the variants Murda Turk and Murdaworld, and has refused to nominate one hometown; the sphere that recurs in his artwork is there to say the whole map counts as the neighbourhood. For roughly a decade that read as a complication for anyone trying to market him. Since 2019 it has been the mechanism of the career.

A Dutch number one, then a second career in Turkish

We Doen Ons Best in 2016 and Bruin Brood, made with BangBros and Hef in 2017, placed him inside the Dutch rap establishment rather than next to it. 'Shutdown' reached number five on the Dutch Single Top 100 in 2018. 'Rompe', with Priceless and Frenna, went to number one there in 2019, and remains his highest-charting single. He also issued BABA in 2019. Measured on the Dutch charts alone, he was by then a settled domestic rapper with a run of placings across 2016 to 2019.

What changed the shape of things was 'AYA' with Ezhel in 2019, which passed 100 million views on YouTube and opened Turkey to him on its own terms rather than as a diaspora curiosity. The two followed it with the joint album Made in Turkey in 2020. From that point the centre of gravity moved to Istanbul, and the Turkish-language work has led the release schedule and the touring ever since — the Netherlands became one market among several rather than the market.

Albums named after his children

DOĞA, in 2020, took the name of his daughter, now seven. DUA followed on 21 February 2025, fifteen tracks running a little over three-quarters of an hour, and took more than three years to finish; by his own account the general atmosphere of the record was rebuilt three times before he settled it. The writing puts reggaeton and acoustic pop against Anatolian melody, and he has described it as the album where his contradictory sides sit together most honestly rather than being smoothed out.

DUA was released in pieces rather than dropped whole. 'Scotty', produced by Spanker, arrived at the start of March 2025 and was covered in Turkey as part of that staggered rollout. Either side of it sat singles that did the same cross-border work the albums do: 'Hot Baklava' in 2023, and 'Sen Dönene Kadar' with Hadise the same year. Collaboration has been the method throughout — Ezhel, MERO, Hadise, Tion Wayne — rather than an occasional feature strategy.

UZAY, and where he stands now

UZAY completes the sequence named after his children. It was announced on his YouTube channel for 25 September 2026 and is dated 24 September on Apple Music, which lists fourteen tracks across thirty-nine minutes under a Murda World and Noah's Ark B.V. copyright line. Turkish music press billed it as his third album, counting the run that began with DOĞA. The title and the cover photograph belong to his son Uzay Palm, born on 8 February 2023; Murda has characterised the record as carrying something of the boy's temperament — mischievous and quick, but affectionate and well-mannered with it. He wears necklaces bearing all three children's names.

The guest list is Yung Ouzo, Motive, MERO, Summer Cem and EGE!, with production from Spankito, Artz and Bugy. The lead piece of video, 'karambol' with Motive, went out on 3 September 2026, three weeks ahead of the album, and has become one of the more streamed tracks in his catalogue. Asked around the release who he would still like to work with, he named Manifest, on the grounds that it would make him instantly the coolest father in his own house because his daughter is obsessed with them — which is roughly the register he gives interviewers now, four albums into a run of records about his family.

The UZAY Tour, and the dates that keep moving

His own site currently advertises eighteen shows across six countries, with United States and Canada dates still marked as coming. The run opens at Elektra Hall in Baku on 30 October 2026 and closes at Bostancı Gösteri Merkezi in Istanbul on 26 December. Between those the bulk is Türkiye: Mersin on 31 October, Bursa on 27 November, Samsun on 29 November, then a December chain through Antalya, Denizli, Eskişehir, Kocaeli, Konya, Ankara, Aydın and İzmir, with a Girne date in Cyprus on 16 December still listed as coming soon.

The European leg has been less stable than the Turkish one. Live Nation put tickets on sale through June 2026 for a circuit that included Brussels, Cologne, Stockholm and several German cities — Stockholm tickets went on general sale on 19 June. Vienna on 11 November, Stuttgart on 13 November, Cologne and Berlin have since been marked cancelled on listings aggregators. Munich's Muffathalle on 14 November, Debaser in Stockholm on 20 November, Amager Bio in Copenhagen on 21 November and the Mojo Club in Hamburg on 12 December survive on the official calendar. One conflict is still unresolved in public: the official calendar places him in Bursa on 27 November, the same night Live Nation continues to advertise La Madeleine in Brussels, so one of the two has to move.

What the show is

These are club and mid-size hall shows rather than arena productions, and the format is DJ-led: one DJ, no band, the set built as a continuous run of tracks with the pacing pushed hard. Documented sets run to around thirteen songs over a headline slot — the Paradise Rock Club show in Boston in February 2024 began at 8.30pm and took in 'Konum Gizli', 'Nereye Kadar', 'Rüya' and 'Güneş', which is still the spine of the Turkish-language material. His London debut, at indigo at The O2 on 24 January 2026, was sold on the promise of the chart singles plus unannounced guests, with last entry at 9pm; guests have been a standing feature rather than a one-off, which is what a catalogue built on features allows.

He also works outside the headline format, which is worth knowing before buying. He played the 19 Mayıs youth festival at Barbaros Meydanı in Beşiktaş in May 2024 and the Multi Summer Festival in Oberhausen on 20 June 2026, and on 4 September 2026 appeared at Nachtcollege in Leeuwarden as a back-to-back DJ set billed MURDA b2b S3 — a club night rather than a concert. Formal press reviews of the current run are thin; the claims in circulation are promoter claims, principally more than a billion streams and a record of sold-out rooms, with the sell-out at Trix in Antwerp in November 2023 the specific one cited in Belgium. The measurable number is attention: a little over 44,000 people track him for gig alerts on Bandsintown. No support acts have been announced for the Turkish dates.

The show, now

The UZAY Tour is a DJ-led headline show in clubs and mid-size halls — Muffathalle in Munich, Debaser in Stockholm, Amager Bio in Copenhagen, the Mojo Club in Hamburg, Hayal Kahvesi and Holly Stone rooms across Türkiye — with no band and a continuous, hard-paced run of tracks rather than a staged production. Documented headline sets run to roughly thirteen songs; the Boston show in February 2024 started at 8.30pm and drew on 'Konum Gizli', 'Nereye Kadar', 'Rüya' and 'Güneş', and the current set adds the UZAY material, led by 'karambol' with Motive, to the Dutch chart singles 'Rompe' and 'Shutdown'. Unannounced guests are a standing part of the billing — his London debut at indigo at The O2 on 24 January 2026 was advertised on that basis — which suits a catalogue largely built on features with Ezhel, MERO, Summer Cem and Hadise; no support acts have been announced for the Turkish dates. Formal reviews of the current run are scarce, and the big numbers in circulation (more than a billion streams, sold-out rooms worldwide) come from promoters rather than independent reporting, though the November 2023 sell-out at Trix in Antwerp is cited specifically and some 44,000 people now follow him for gig alerts. Two cautions: several originally announced German and Austrian dates have been cancelled, and the official calendar and Live Nation currently advertise different cities for 27 November.
