Nayt: from a bad first contract to a number one and his first arenas

William Mezzanotte has spent fifteen years building an Italian rap career on trilogies and self-release rather than on hits; in March 2026 it produced a number one album, and in November it takes him into the palasport for the first time under his own name.

Isernia by birth, Rome by formation

Nayt was born William Mezzanotte on 9 November 1994 in Isernia, in Molise, but the family moved to Rome in his first months and the city did the forming. He began writing at fourteen and put out a first single, "No Story", at sixteen, in 2011, with the producer 3D — a working partnership that is still intact fifteen years later. The debut album, "Nayt One", arrived on 7 May 2012, when he was eighteen.

What followed was the part of the story he now tells plainly: an early record deal on bad terms stalled the momentum almost as soon as it existed. The restart came in 2015, when he moved to the independent VNT1 Records and began releasing on his own schedule. Everything that counts in the catalogue dates from after that break.

Two trilogies, and a slow climb in the certifications

The work that made his name is the Raptus sequence — "Raptus" in 2015, "Raptus 2" in 2017, "Raptus 3" in 2019 — dense, interior writing over largely boom-bap and jazz-inflected production, the sort of rap that rewards a lyric sheet. Jive Records reissued the three as a collection box on 10 May 2019. "Raptus 3" brought his first FIMI gold certification.

He then did it again. Between 2020 and 2023 came a second trilogy, "Mood", "Doom" and "Habitat". "Doom", released in 2021, went platinum and remains the record that most reliably moves a room. Across both sets the method stayed the same: a small circle of producers, no features chasing playlists, and albums built to be heard in order.

Lettera Q and the step up in room size

"Lettera Q", his eighth studio project, came out on 22 November 2024. It entered at number one on the Italian physical formats chart and number two on the FIMI Top Album chart, and was certified gold.

The live consequence was immediate. The La Grande Fuga club tour, promoted by Live Nation, ran to ten dates across the main Italian clubs and sold out, closing with two nights at Fabrique in Milan on 8 and 9 April 2025. Summer festival slots followed through July and August, and then two arena shows at the end of October 2025: Palazzo dello Sport in Rome on 23 October and the Unipol Forum in Assago on 25 October. Reports from the Fabrique finale described a set that leaned on delivery and volume of words rather than on production spectacle.

On 3 October 2025 he released "Un uomo", the first signal of what was coming next.

Sanremo on his own terms, then a number one

On 30 November 2025 Nayt was named in the cast of the 76th Sanremo Festival. For a rapper with his back catalogue that is a loaded move, and he framed it carefully in the press at the time: the condition he set himself was that if he went to Sanremo he would go with a song that did not change who he was. "Prima che", written by him and produced by Zef, was released on 25 February 2026 and finished the Festival in sixth place.

"Io individuo", his tenth album, followed on 20 March 2026 on VNT1 and Columbia through Sony Music — thirteen tracks, thirty-nine minutes and forty-one seconds, produced with 3D, 23 TheMiracle, Alessandro De Crescenzo, Wibe and Zef. It went to number one in Italy and was certified gold. Its one proper guest vocal is Elisa, on "Stupido pensiero"; "L'Astronauta", also issued on release day, builds on a sample of the chorus of Noemi's "Briciole". "Forte", the love song of the set, went to radio on 10 April 2026.

Critics split on it rather than dismissed it. OndaRock gave it six out of ten, crediting the opening "Scrivendo" and the softer, R&B-leaning middle of the record while objecting to self-mythologising lines and to a stylistic spread wide enough to blur the statement; Newsic scored it 7.5. The common reading is of a writer moving from hardcore territory towards something closer to songwriting, with the Sanremo exposure absorbed rather than obeyed.

Where things stand in October 2026

Since the album he has worked the Italian television and radio-festival circuit hard and almost entirely in short sets: "Domenica In" on 1 March, Sanremo Top on 14 March, RTL Power Hits Estate at the Foro Italico in Rome on 31 May, the 105 Summer Festival at Parco San Giuliano in Mestre on 5 June, Party Like a Deejay at the Arco della Pace in Milan on 7 June, Yoga Radio Bruno Estate in Piacenza on 11 June, Tim Summer Hits in Piazza del Popolo on 23 June and Kiss Kiss Way in Viareggio on 27 June. Autumn brought two Arena di Verona appearances, Radio Zeta Future Hits Live on 2 September and the BYD Music Awards on 18 September, each a song or two.

All of that is promotion. The actual year ends with the Noi Individui Tour, announced on 17 February 2026, on Mastercard presale from 18 February and general sale from 20 February, and currently the only full-length headline shows on his calendar.

What the live show has become

The November run is his first headline tour of Italian arenas, and it is deliberately short — six nights inside eleven days, a data zero in Livorno followed by five cities. The scale is new; the show itself is a continuation of the club and arena nights of 2025 rather than a reinvention, with "Io individuo" supplying the spine and the Raptus-era and "Doom" material supplying the release valves.

Archived setlists from the 2025 run show the shape: a long main sequence of roughly twenty songs, a mid-set acoustic passage that strips the arrangements back, and a closing run through the older, harder material. Guest appearances at the Milan dates came from Ernia and MadMan. No support acts have been announced for the November shows; the Rome date is listed with a 21:00 start.

The show, now

The current show is the Noi Individui Tour, Nayt's first headline run in Italian arenas: a data zero at the Modigliani Forum in Livorno on 1 November 2026, then Palaflorio in Bari on 3 November, the Kioene Arena in Padua on 5 November, the Unipol Forum in Assago on 7 November, Palazzo dello Sport in Rome on 9 November and Palapartenope in Naples on 11 November, promoted by Live Nation Italia and on general sale since 20 February 2026 after a Mastercard presale on 18 February. The Rome date is listed with a 21:00 start, and no support acts have been announced. The set is built on "Io individuo" with the older catalogue around it; archived setlists from the 2025 La Grande Fuga and arena shows run to roughly twenty songs, with an acoustic mid-section that drops the volume and a final stretch of harder, Raptus- and Doom-era material, and guest spots at the Milan nights from Ernia and MadMan. That 2025 club tour — ten dates — sold out, closing with two nights at Fabrique in Milan on 8 and 9 April 2025, and live reports from it put the weight on vocal delivery and the density of the writing rather than on staging.
