The Lucca production that turned Pink Floyd's back catalogue into theatre — and has now broken its own chronology
Pink Floyd History is an Italian seven-piece built by a Tuscan production house in 2015 and staged like a theatre piece rather than a bar gig. Its Animal Farm World Tour, premiered in Rome in May 2026, opens its first full international leg across eight Polish cities from 20 October 2026.
A production house, not a group of friends
The act did not come together the usual way. 9 Muse Srl, a company based in Lucca in Tuscany and run by Emiliano Galigani and Simone Giusti, assembled the show in 2015 to mark fifty years since Pink Floyd formed, and first staged it in February 2016 under Galigani's direction. Federica Moretti is credited as a producer alongside the two founders, Domenico Zazzara handles the video, and Claudia Sturlini is production manager. The work is credited jointly to 9 Muse and Rockopera, and is booked internationally by Stage 11, also out of Lucca.
That origin is visible in where the show plays. Rather than rock clubs, the routing leans on seated houses: Teatro Brancaccio in Rome, Teatro Repower in Assago, Teatro Nuovo in Verona, Città del Teatro in Cascina, Teatro Storchi in Modena, and on the current leg the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk and CKK Jordanki in Toruń. It also means the running time is fixed rather than elastic — Stage 11 bills the production at 120 minutes with seven musicians, a theatre spec rather than a support-and-headliner spec.
By March 2023 the show had built a Swiss run through Zurich, Bern and Geneva, with Italian dates that year including the Brancaccio in Rome, Assago, Mestre, Aosta and Livorno. Local reporting from Lucca at the time described repeated sell-outs and crowds that behaved like it was a real Floyd date rather than a tribute.
The players, named on the bill
Unusually for a tribute production, the musicians are listed on theatre billings rather than hidden behind the brand. The Città del Teatro programme for 12 March 2025 in Cascina named Stefano Pardini and Saverio Guerrini on lead vocals, Daniela Bulleri on backing vocals, Massimiliano Salani on keyboards, Moog and vocals, Giacomo Dell'Immagine on guitar, Emanuele Michetti on guitar and harmony vocals, Luca Santangeli on bass and Alessandro Matteucci on drums. Stalls and first balcony were €33, upper balcony and galleries €29.
Salani is also the musical director, and he is the person who speaks for the show in the Italian press — the one who explains what each tour is trying to do and why the structure changed. Earlier Lucca reporting listed a slightly different roster, including Felicity Lucchesi on vocals and keyboards, which suggests the core has shifted at the edges across a decade of touring while the central group has held.
The pitch has always been fidelity plus apparatus. Press material for the production describes recreating the records with close attention to the original sound, then wrapping that in lighting design and original video projections, with spoken narration carrying the audience between songs. The claim is explicitly not improvisation or reinterpretation: the songs arrive as the records left them.
The chapters, one album at a time
For its first four tours the show ran chronologically — psychedelic beginnings, the progressive run, the later records, told in order, with Teatro Nuovo in Verona among the houses that took it as a fifty-years-of-the-band evening. Billings from that period describe a sweep from the early material through The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and The Division Bell, built from music, images and storytelling.
From the 2025–26 season the production began hanging each tour on a single record. At Teatro Infinity in Cremona on 27 February 2026 the show was built around Wish You Were Here performed complete, used as the spine for a wider selection. Salani's stated reasoning was that the whole album works as a thread for developing a live concept carrying a message to the audience, rather than a greatest-hits run.
The same season produced a separate symphonic version. On 3 February 2026 at Teatro Storchi in Modena, Stage 11 staged The Wall in full with live orchestra, presented as a symphonic rock opera using video mapping, lighting and special effects. That is a different product from the touring show — bigger, house-specific, and not part of the current road routing.
Animal Farm: breaking the pattern
The current production premiered at Teatro Brancaccio in Rome on Friday 15 May 2026 at 21:00, billed as the opening night of a world tour. Stage 11 paired it with AbbaDream at the same theatre the following night, 16 May.
Animal Farm abandons the chronological format the show had used for a decade. Salani described it plainly: after ten years and four tours trading on chronological storytelling, the pattern is broken, and the evening is instead built in three acts — the first given to the Dogs, the second to the Pigs, the third to the Sheep. Each act takes the relevant songs from Animals and surrounds them with other material from the catalogue, so the album's three animal figures become the organising idea rather than a timeline.
The visual side follows the same logic. The projections, lighting and digital scenography are built from the 1977 album's Orwellian framing, pushing the evening towards a commentary on power and society rather than a recreation of a particular 1977 stage. That is a real editorial choice, and it is the thing that distinguishes this tour from the four that preceded it — the record is being read, not just played.
Where they stand now
Poland takes the first full international leg. Eight dates run from 20 to 28 October 2026, all at 20:00: Zen.com Expo in Rzeszów-Jasionka on the 20th, Progresja in Warsaw on the 21st, Miasto Ogrodów in Katowice on the 22nd, Sala Ziemi in Poznań on the 23rd, CSK in Lublin on the 24th, the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk on the 26th, CKK Jordanki in Toruń on the 27th and Hala Orion in Wrocław on the 28th. Tickets were advertised from 159 zł. Songkick's calendar carries a Belgian date at Aarschot on 23 October against the Polish promoters' Poznań listing, so the middle of that week may yet move.
Polish promoters frame the leg around the fiftieth anniversary of Animals, and the broader Animal Farm routing is described as extending through 2028. Italian theatre dates follow immediately after the Polish run: Teatro Politeama in Poggibonsi on 12 November 2026, Città del Teatro in Cascina on 18 November and Teatro Nuovo in Verona on 21 November. Two 2027 dates are already in the diary — Teatro Repower in Assago on 25 March and Teatro Dino Buzzati in Belluno on 18 April.
Independent criticism of the show is thin, which is normal for a tribute production that lives in regional theatres and sells through local listings rather than the music press. What exists is consistent: Italian coverage reports strong advance sales and repeat bookings at the same houses, and Polish press introduces the group as one of Europe's leading bands working this repertoire. The durable evidence is the routing itself — the same theatres keep taking it back, and the tour is booked years out.
The show, now
The current evening runs about two hours with seven players and is structured as three acts rather than a chronological sweep: act one on the Dogs, act two on the Pigs, act three on the Sheep, each built from the relevant Animals material and filled out with other catalogue songs, with Polish billings promising selections from The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall alongside the album. The songs are played close to the records rather than reworked. Staging is video-led — original projections, lighting design and digital scenography drawn from the 1977 album's Orwellian imagery, with spoken narration linking the sections, and the video is credited to Domenico Zazzara. Most of the routing is seated theatres and concert halls, including the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk on 26 October 2026 and CKK Jordanki in Toruń on the 27th, with Progresja in Warsaw on the 21st the one straight rock club on the Polish leg. No support act appears on the Polish billings; tickets there started at 159 zł. Italian coverage reports frequent sell-outs and houses rebooking the show season after season, and Polish press presents the group as among Europe's strongest in this repertoire, though independent reviews of the Animal Farm staging are still scarce this early in the tour.
