The Kraków publisher that became Poland's progressive rock promoter
Rock-Serwis Piotr Kosiński is not a band but a one-man-founded Kraków operation — book publisher since 1983, mail-order shop, label, internet radio station and concert agency — that has spent three decades importing progressive rock into Poland, and it has seven dates on sale between late September and early November 2026.
A book list before a booking sheet
Rock-Serwis began in Kraków in 1983 as a publishing house run by Piotr Kosiński, registered under the ISBN prefix 83-85335. Its first business was print: encyclopedias, biographies, discographies and collections of lyrics devoted to rock musicians, at a time when almost none of that material existed in Polish. The translators it used are part of the record — Jan Skaradziński, Katarzyna Malita, and Tomasz Beksiński, who turned a biography of The Sisters of Mercy into Polish. For a generation of Polish listeners the imprint was a reference shelf rather than a concert brand.
The retail side came with it. Rock-Serwis ran a shop at ul. Szpitalna 7 in Kraków until it closed in the late 1990s, and moved the trade to mail order and then to the web: rockserwis.pl has been selling records since 2001, which makes it one of the longest-running Polish music shops online. The stock is aimed at collectors — catalogue titles alongside imports and pressings that are hard to find in Poland — and the shop marked Record Store Day on 16 April 2011 and again on 21 April 2012. The company now works out of ul. płk. Francesco Nullo 28 in Kraków, and the same address covers the publishing, the shop, the label and the agency.
1994, and the acts that started arriving
The pivot came in 1994, when Rock-Serwis added recording and artist management to the publishing, acting as the official Polish representative of several independent labels and issuing records of its own — the Polish band Quidam among them. Promotion followed from the same contacts: if you already imported a label's catalogue, you could bring its bands to a Polish stage.
The list of acts Rock-Serwis has brought into Poland reads as a map of European progressive and art rock rather than a chart run. Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Camel, Fish, John Wetton, Peter Hammill, Steve Hackett, Van der Graaf Generator, Pain of Salvation, Anathema, Pure Reason Revolution, Lacrimosa, Blackfield, Colin Bass, The Flower Kings, Oceansize, The Pineapple Thief, Airbag, RPWL, Arena, Ozric Tentacles and Gazpacho have all played dates arranged by the agency. Several of them are repeat business — Hammill and Airbag are both back on the agency's 2026 sheet — which is the practical shape of the operation: a small promoter with a defined audience, booking the same artists back into the same clubs every few years rather than chasing one-off arena runs.
The half of the business that broadcasts
Kosiński has been a broadcaster for as long as he has been a promoter. He dates his regular on-air work to 1992, when Rock Malowany Fantazją started on RMF FM, and he presented Noc Muzycznych Pejzaży on Polskie Radio Program III from 1998 until 2015. Before that, by his own account, his involvement with music was the literary side — the writing and the publishing — rather than the microphone.
Since then the broadcasting has been in-house. Radio Rockserwis FM, the station he set up with a group of colleagues, dates its founding to 6 December 2014 and marks the anniversary each year with special programming. Kosiński is its editor-in-chief and music director as well as a presenter, with four weekly slots of his own: Pejzaże Dźwiękiem Malowane on Tuesdays from 21:00, Dźwięki na Powitanie Nocy straight after it at 23:00, Tajemnice Przyprószonego Kufra on Thursdays at 21:00, and Pora Ojca Dyrektora on Sunday afternoons. The station's fixtures include the Thursday programme Czwartkowy Czart, past its 500th edition, and annual listener votes on the album of the year and on favourite songs of all time. It also runs a national gig calendar that lists far more than the agency's own shows, which is how a promoter this size keeps an audience between tours.
Inowrocław, the last weekend of August
The agency's most visible annual commitment is the Ino-Rock Festival, held in the spa town of Inowrocław in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship since 2008. It is run jointly by the City of Inowrocław, Rock-Serwis Agency Piotr Kosiński and the Kujawy Cultural Centre, under the honorary patronage of the town's mayor, with Radio Rockserwis FM as radio partner. Past editions have carried the Steve Hackett Band, Hawkwind and Riverside.
The eighteenth edition was announced on 19 April 2026 and took place on 29 August 2026 on the event ground at ul. Wierzbińskiego 9, the meadow behind the municipal sports centre, with the music starting at 16:30. Five acts played: Midge Ure, formerly of Ultravox; Weather Systems, the band formed by members of Anathema; the French post-rock group Kwoon; Hedone, led by Maciej Werk; and the young Polish alternative band Sad Smiles. The billing is typical of the festival's method — one outdoor stage, an early evening start, a headline name from the British end of the catalogue, a continental act, and two Polish bands, one established and one recent.
Where things stand: seven dates on sale
The agency's autumn book was announced in two waves. Airbag's Polish run went public on 28 January 2026: 5 November at Terminal Kultury Gocław in Warsaw, 6 November at Zaklęte Rewiry in Wrocław and 7 November at Hype Park in Kraków, with standing tickets at 179 zł and seated places in Warsaw at 229.99 zł. Rock-Serwis is named as organiser, and the shows are tied to a new studio album from the Norwegian band.
On 19 August 2026 two more announcements followed. Peter Hammill plays Klub Studio in Kraków on 26 September and the Palladium in Warsaw on 27 September, doors at 19:00 and music at 20:00 — his first Polish dates under the agency's banner in some years, and the ninth and tenth times a Van der Graaf Generator name has appeared on its books. Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks take the YES Epics, Classics and More tour to Sala Ziemi in Poznań on 8 October and the Dom Muzyki i Tańca in Zabrze on 10 October. Those three runs account for the seven dates currently on sale, spread across five cities and roughly six weeks.
The rooms, and the weekend format around them
Nothing on the current sheet is an arena booking. Klub Studio is a Kraków student club, the Palladium a mid-sized Warsaw hall, Terminal Kultury Gocław a district arts centre, Zaklęte Rewiry and Hype Park small standing clubs; Sala Ziemi in Poznań and the Dom Muzyki i Tańca in Zabrze are seated halls that suit an orchestral-scale Yes repertoire. The prices reflect that scale rather than a festival economy.
The wider circuit these dates sit in has developed a weekend format that the agency's radio calendar tracks closely. The Mostly Autumn Weekend at CK Wiatrak in Zabrze on 2 and 3 October 2026 — organised by the venue rather than by Rock-Serwis — runs a support act at 18:00, a two-hour headline set from 20:00 to 22:00, a different repertoire on each of the two nights, and meet-and-greets, a group photograph and a Q&A session built into the afternoon, at 229 zł for a day or 369 zł for both. That combination of a long headline set and daytime access is now the standard shape of a Polish progressive rock weekend, and it is the market the agency's single-night club shows operate in.
The show, now
A Rock-Serwis night in autumn 2026 is a club or mid-sized hall show rather than a production spectacle: Peter Hammill at Klub Studio in Kraków on 26 September and the Palladium in Warsaw on 27 September opens doors at 19:00 for a 20:00 start, drawing on a catalogue of more than thirty albums with the setlist and the size of the accompanying band changing from night to night, so no two performances on the same run match. Airbag's three November dates — Warsaw on the 5th, Wrocław on the 6th, Kraków on the 7th — are standing shows at 179 zł, with seated places in Warsaw at 229.99 zł, built around a new studio album.
