Soul Heaven: the London soulful-house night that became an Ibiza Saturday institution
A club brand born out of a decade-long Ministry of Sound residency, now a record label, a booking agency and the house-music day party that has held Saturdays at O Beach Ibiza since 2013 — its 2026 season closing on 3 October.
A Ministry of Sound Saturday that turned into a business
The clearest fixed point in Soul Heaven's history is a residency: ten years at Ministry of Sound in London, which the brand still cites as the foundation of everything that followed. Accounts of exactly how it started differ in detail. Bobby & Steve, the twin DJs and promoters, are credited with launching the night at Ministry in 2000, the opening evening pairing them with Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez in front of more than two thousand people, with a further thousand said to be queueing outside. In the same year the pair took a weekly booking at El Divino in Ibiza, which is where the habit of running a London room and a Balearic one in the same calendar began.
Soul Heaven's own telling places the origin a year later and in a conversation: 'Little' Louie Vega and the brand's original owner, Oli White, talking in a club in 2001 about whether American soulful house could be delivered to bigger audiences around the world. Both versions point the same way — a British night built on New York records, with the New York DJs flown in rather than imitated. The company describes itself as a pioneer of the American soulful house scene in the UK, and the guest list it has accumulated since carries that argument better than the phrase does: Masters At Work, Kenny Dope, Louie Vega, Todd Terry, François K, Norman Jay MBE, Jazzie B, and more recently Purple Disco Machine.
The handover, and the label that came out of it
The business changed hands in stages in the middle of the 2000s. The events operation was acquired in 2006; the record label, Soul Heaven Records, was established the following year, in 2007, when Fleur Woolford became its owner after White moved on to other sporting and entertainment interests. Since 2008, with Woolford as chief executive, the company has been female-owned — rare enough in dance-music ownership that DJ Mag profiled her in the summer of 2024.
Distribution for the label runs through Defected, which had already released a Soul Heaven compilation mixed by Bobby & Steve during the Ministry years. Soul Heaven's own catalogue leans heavily on the mixed compilation, each volume tied to a city and a season: Amsterdam in 2015, Miami and Ibiza in 2016, Ibiza again in 2017. Those records work as documentation of where the parties were that summer rather than as artist albums, which is a fair summary of how the whole operation is put together — the catalogue follows the diary, not the other way round.
Rooms, stages and an agency in the back office
After Ministry of Sound, the London side of the brand moved through Matter and fabric. The Ibiza side ran through El Divino, Blue Marlin and Pikes before it settled at O Beach. Outside the club circuit, Soul Heaven has hosted stages at Defected Croatia, Suncebeat and Liverpool Disco Festival, which put its programming in front of crowds that had bought a ticket for the festival rather than for the brand.
The part outsiders tend to miss is that Soul Heaven also sells DJs. Zoo Management and SW Entertainment have operated as in-house talent agencies, meaning the same organisation books the room, signs the record and represents the artist. That explains why the same names recur across the parties, the compilations and the festival stages: Groove Assassin, Michael Gray, Grant Nelson, Sandy Rivera and Barbara Tucker have all appeared in more than one of those columns. It also explains the brand's survival through a period that closed a good number of London soulful-house nights — its income was never resting on one door.
Twelve years of Saturdays at O Beach
The residency that now defines Soul Heaven is the Saturday at O Beach in San Antonio, which the brand dates to 2013; Ibiza Spotlight's own profile puts the start a year earlier, in 2012. Either way it is one of the longest continuous weekly bookings on the island, and its music policy has barely shifted: vocal house, soulful house, funky disco and deep house, with New York records at the centre and occasional detours through UK garage and jackin' grooves.
The 2024 season shows the shape clearly. It ran from 11 May to 5 October, residents Lucy Jane, Jamie Love and Grant Collins playing from doors open, with a single guest headliner most weeks: Sandy Rivera of Kings Of Tomorrow on the 11 May opening, Monki on 13 July, Grant Nelson on 27 July, Katie Goodman on 28 September and Groove Assassin closing on 5 October, with Sy Sez, Birdee and the Berlin-based Superlover filling weeks in between. Doors at 1pm, finish at 10pm, extended to 11pm through the peak months.
The 2026 season, now in its final weekend
On 7 November 2025, O Beach published its 2026 calendar — the venue open from 24 April to 11 October — and named Soul Heaven among the first residencies confirmed to return, alongside Kisstory and House in Paradise. The Soul Heaven run was set for most Saturdays from 2 May to 3 October 2026, standing down on 23 May and 29 August when KISS Pool Party Live takes the day. Residents for the season are Jamie Love, Juliet Thurbz and Lucy Jane.
The season carries a theme, Tarot Disco, hung on the brand's longstanding Studio 54 reference point. Guests billed across the summer include Dave Lee, Groove Assassin, Horse Meat Disco, Michael Gray, Sophie Joy and Terry Hunter, plus a live vocal appearance from Barbara Tucker. The closing party on 3 October 2026 puts Groove Assassin alongside all three residents. As of late September 2026 nothing beyond that date has been announced publicly, and there are no tickets on sale for Soul Heaven as a travelling bill — the brand's availability is the O Beach diary, not a tour schedule.
Dubai Thursdays and the occasional night at home
O Beach opened in Dubai in October 2024, its first site outside Ibiza, and Soul Heaven took the Thursday there, with Grant Collins and Lucy Jane listed as residents. The 8 January 2026 edition ran with Grant Collins, Nick Holmes and CN Williams. It is effectively the Ibiza Saturday moved to a weeknight and a different waterfront, and it gives the brand a winter room, which the Ibiza-only years did not.
British dates are now occasional rather than regular. A two-room night was billed at The Loft in Leith for 28 February 2026, running 7pm to 1am, with Horse Meat Disco, Groove Assassin, IMFROMULL Peacey and Simmone Black. The line-up is instructive: when Soul Heaven comes home it books the same names it books in San Antonio, in a room a fraction of the size. For a brand that spent ten years as a London Saturday, that is the real change of the past decade — the party is still weekly, but the week happens abroad.
The show, now
A Soul Heaven date in 2026 is a day party, not an evening gig: doors at 1pm at O Beach in San Antonio, curfew 10pm in May, June, September and October and 11pm through July and August, which makes for a nine- to ten-hour session rather than a set-length show. The format is consistent — residents Jamie Love, Juliet Thurbz and Lucy Jane play from doors and hold the room, one guest headliner takes the peak hours, and there is no support act in the touring sense; the 2026 bill drew on Dave Lee, Groove Assassin, Horse Meat Disco, Michael Gray, Sophie Joy and Terry Hunter, with Barbara Tucker singing live. Staging is the venue's own: pool, podiums and the scheduled shows and performances O Beach runs through the afternoon, dressed this season around a Tarot Disco theme that leans on the brand's Studio 54 reference. Music runs vocal, soulful, funky disco and deep house, with New York records at its core. Standard tickets have been listed between €15 and €40 depending on the date, and Ibiza Spotlight warns that O Beach sells out almost every day and that pre-sale ticket holders must be inside by 3pm — the practical detail that catches people out. Published reviews of individual 2025 and 2026 Saturdays are thin on the ground; what the listings do record is that the residency has held the same slot for more than a decade with the same three-resident structure, and that the closing party on 3 October 2026 pairs Groove Assassin with all three residents.
