The Aachen postcode rapper who turned a balcony into a 2,500-person gig
Thizzy52, born in Kinshasa and based on the Belgian-German border, spent 2025 and 2026 moving from TikTok football edits to the German top 20; his first headline tour opened in Frankfurt on 14 October 2026, five days after the Blockkids tape landed.
Kinshasa, Kelmis and the number 52
Thizzy52 was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and lives in Kelmis, a small Belgian municipality pressed against the German border. German outlets file him as an Aachen rapper, and the name explains why: the 52 comes from the first two digits of the Aachen postcode, the city a few minutes' drive across the frontier where most of his songs are set.
That geography shows up in the music rather than being decoration on top of it. His records fold Ndombolo, the Congolese dance style, into trap and German rap, so the drum patterns and guitar figures pull against the 808s instead of sitting politely behind them. It is the most distinctive thing about him in a scene where the production template is usually settled before the rapper arrives.
The second formative fact is a knee. He was pursuing football before music and gave up the ambition after a cruciate ligament injury — a biographical detail that has quietly become the central image of his catalogue, which is now stacked with football references, football titles and football-edit virality.
Thizzy vom Block to Rebell: the slow part
The first release, the single Thizzy vom Block, came out on 3 December 2021, and the alias Thizzy vom Bloc still follows him around on social accounts. The debut album Rebell followed in 2023 on STRM, before any of the chart numbers arrived.
2024 was the year the audience started to show up. 100 Push Ups became his first song with serious reach, approaching 28 million Spotify streams, and he played splash!, the long-running German hip-hop festival, which is the standard proving ground for a German rapper with momentum but no hits yet. By that point the live draw was already defined by its demographic: a crowd skewed heavily towards the 15-to-25 bracket, there for the energy of the delivery rather than for any studied lyrical reputation.
2025: Mayi, Sure Shots and an award in January
The breakthrough was Mayi in 2025, which reached number 67 on the German singles chart — modest on paper, decisive in practice, because it established that the Ndombolo-inflected sound could chart at all. Sure Shots, a collaboration with Luciano, went considerably further the same year, peaking at number 13 in Germany and giving him a co-sign from one of the biggest commercial names in German rap.
The institutional confirmation came at the Hiphop.de Awards for 2025, where he was named Best National Newcomer, with the award handed over in January 2026. Hiphop.de is the closest thing German rap has to a scene-internal jury rather than a sales ranking, which makes the category worth more than the trophy count suggests.
The balcony at Sielwall, 15 March 2026
The episode that defined his 2026 was not a release. On Saturday 15 March 2026, announced on Instagram only the day before and with neither venue nor artist confirmed until shortly beforehand, Thizzy52 appeared on the balcony of an empty office building above the Sielwall junction in Bremen's Viertel district with a microphone and speaker boxes. The performance ran roughly 20 minutes and started just before 10pm. Around 2,500 people filled the pavements and the road beneath him.
The crowd closed the junction. Police rerouted traffic and trams, some of those present set off pyrotechnics and climbed traffic lights — damaging the signals — and one medical call-out was required. Officers said afterwards that the gathering had otherwise passed without disturbance, while noting that they had known from the Instagram post that something might happen but not what or where. Because the concert was never registered, an administrative-offence procedure was opened; unregistered public gatherings of that kind carry fines into four figures.
The stunt was promotion for the second edition of the Bremen hip-hop festival Turnup BRMN, which he went on to play that summer. It also answered the question of whether the streaming numbers converted into bodies in a street, which is not a given for an artist whose reach is built on short video.
Blockkids: football edits into a tape
The single Blockkids arrived on 12 February 2026 — two minutes and 27 seconds, produced by DLS — and became the song that carried him past the German-speaking market. It spread through football short-form video on TikTok and Instagram, the clip-soundtrack route that now does for a rap single what radio once did, and pulled listeners in territories where nobody could follow the lyrics.
A run of singles followed through the year, most of them keeping the football framing: Balotelli, which reached number 11 in Germany and 25 in Switzerland, then Ballon d'Or in July and AC in September. AC is the bleaker end of the catalogue, a DLS-produced track about money-making on Aachen streets with a video by DCR Production and Zulujones — his own summary of it was that lads in Aachen do crooked things, as long as the money multiplies. He also recorded a COLORS session, Jeden Tag, in September 2026, which is the usual signal that an artist is being positioned for an audience beyond their home scene.
The tape BLOCKKIDS came out on 9 October 2026 through Urban, part of Universal Music in Germany: 11 tracks, around 25 minutes, collecting the year's singles alongside unreleased material, with a limited t-shirt-and-CD bundle sold around the release. It is a compact release rather than a statement album, and it exists primarily to name the tour. By the time it landed he was at roughly 1.4 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The Blockkids Tour, October 2026
The headline run opened at ZOOM Kantine in Frankfurt on 14 October 2026 and continues through Exil in Zürich on 15 October, Technikum in Munich on 17 October, Flex in Vienna on 18 October, Metropol in Berlin on 23 October, Uebel & Gefährlich Ballsaal in Hamburg on 24 October and Live Music Hall in Cologne on 30 October. Nine dates are currently on sale in total, the remaining two being festival bookings for 2027: Heroes Festival in Geiselwind on 17 June and the Freiburg edition in September.
These are club and mid-size hall rooms in the 600-to-1,500 capacity band rather than arenas, booked through Goodlive Artists, with tickets from €34.90 for Berlin. The Hamburg date has been flagged by the ticketing platform as high-demand with resale listings appearing. That is the right scale for where he currently sits: a first proper headline tour off the back of one tape, three charting singles and a festival summer that included Alter Ego in Wels, Austria, on 8 August 2026.
The show, now
The Blockkids Tour 2026 is Thizzy52's first headline run: seven club and mid-size hall dates across Germany, Austria and Switzerland between 14 and 30 October 2026, opening at ZOOM Kantine in Frankfurt and finishing at Live Music Hall in Cologne, with most shows timed at an 8pm start and the Hamburg and Cologne dates at 7pm. Promoter listings name no support act, so the night runs on the headliner and the tape it is named after — an 11-track, roughly 25-minute record released on 9 October, meaning the set draws on the Blockkids material plus the charting singles Balotelli, Sure Shots and Mayi and the 2024 breakthrough 100 Push Ups. Staging is club-standard rather than production-led; the draw is the delivery, which German coverage consistently describes as high-energy, and a crowd that sits mainly in the 15-to-25 bracket and sings the hooks back. The clearest evidence of what that crowd does in a room came before any of it was ticketed: on 15 March 2026 about 2,500 people filled the Sielwall junction in Bremen for a 20-minute unannounced set delivered from an office balcony, closing the intersection, setting off pyrotechnics and climbing traffic lights, which police later recorded as otherwise peaceful but unregistered. Tickets for the Berlin show at Metropol on 23 October start at €34.90, and the Hamburg date at Uebel & Gefährlich has been flagged as high-demand with fan-to-fan resale active.
