Xiyo y Fernandezz: the Jaén pair who built a reggaetón album out of borrowed beats and a ski mask
Two friends from a housing estate in Jaén went from delivery rounds and phone-app demos to Yung Beef's La Vendición Records; their debut album Belladonna landed on 14 May 2026, and by mid-September they were outplaying their mentor on a Barcelona festival stage.
A city with no studios in it
Xiyo is Alejandro Palacios, and the project starts in 2020 in a bedroom in Jaén's Polígono del Valle, with FL Studio on one screen and delivery shifts paying for it. Before the bedroom there was the local rap-battle circuit from around 2016, which he has described as close to the only available route into music in a city that had neither studios nor money for them. His first released track, Trambotikation, was made with Serchito trambotiko, and that partnership carried the early, trap-leaning material.
Fernandezz arrived from the opposite direction. Music was a hobby, and the first recordings were made through the Voloco app, passed around rather than released. Xiyo pushed them hard enough that some listeners assumed Fernandezz was a foreign artist rather than someone from the same neighbourhood. The ski mask he performs in is a constructed character rather than an accident of fashion, and he has tied it to the bandit history of the Jaén countryside.
The split between them is what makes the records work. Xiyo pulls towards American rap; Fernandezz pulls towards reggaetón and bellaqueo. Neither has claimed the other's lane, and the songs tend to hand the hooks to Fernandezz and the harder verses to Xiyo.
Mixtapes, remixes, and a label
The first $olid Finesse mixtape arrived in 2023, and the remix of me matas is the point where the sound stops being trap and becomes the thing they are now known for. The producer dn.aire became central to that shift and has stayed central since.
Through 2024 the numbers started moving: the remix of La ocasión passed 800,000 streams, and the two volumes of $F Verano Mix built a catalogue of club edits rather than singles. Late in 2024, after Pobre angelito travelled further than anything before it, La Vendición Records signed them. The label is run by Yung Beef, and his involvement has shaped both their guest lists and their public positioning since.
Their method is unusually openly described. They pull beats from Splice and have repurposed Drake productions, and rather than defend that they call the result organic — made from what was available, with the knowledge of the genre they grew up on supplying the rest. Fernandezz has put it as creation starting from zero point zero, which is a claim about resources rather than about the street.
Do You Remember, then Quevedo
Do You Remember, featuring Eix and produced by Pipo Beatz, dn.aire and Roydee, came out of a studio session in Granada where Fernandezz improvised over a Dona1re beat. It ran through the summer of 2025 in Spanish clubs and on TikTok, and it is the record that moved them from a regional curiosity to a national one.
Ruina followed in September 2025, and they delayed its release in order to get Quevedo onto it alongside Yung Beef. That pairing — a Canarian pop-scale star and the underground label boss on the same track — did more for their reach than any marketing push, and festival billings a year later still lead with it as the viral hit of the year.
Belladonna
The debut album arrived on 14 May 2026 on La Vendición, in the label's tenth-anniversary year: fourteen tracks, around forty minutes. It is built as a concept record around the belladonna flower, moving through three stages — seduction, paralysis, condemnation — and tracing a line from purity to corruption by ambition, pain, memory and betrayal. That is a darker and more narrative frame than the mixtapes had any use for.
The guest list runs to Yung Beef, Quevedo, Omar Montes, Dellafuente, Raul Clyde, Pressure9x19, Kristina and Eix, with Pipo Beatz and dn.aire handling most of the production. La Laguna puts Yung Beef and dn.aire together, Fantasía brings in Omar Montes and Raul Clyde, Brujería y Tarot pairs them with Kristina, and Solo Contigo got the album's most visible visualiser.
Spanish music press treated it as one of the season's more anticipated releases and read it as holding the classic cadence of the genre against current production while staying off the commercial template. The consistent line across reviews is that the record widened their range without smoothing it out.
Standing now, October 2026
The main story of the past year is volume of work. Both have spoken about playing more than fifty shows in three and a half months and about working with Irene, the psychologist attached to La Vendición, on the overstimulation that came with it — an unusually plain admission from a duo whose public image is built on hardness.
On 19 September 2026 they played the third edition of Muralla Urbana in Alcalá de Henares, in the walled grounds of the Huerta del Obispo, taking a 19:50 slot on a five-act urban bill alongside Lucho RK, Raúl Clyde, D. Valentino and C Marí, with DJ Isaac Corrales filling the gaps between sets and day tickets from €55. The same weekend, 17 to 19 September, they appeared at FSTVL·B at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.
The Barcelona set drew the strongest live notice they have had. One review called their show the most important appointment of its festival weekend, said they delivered on it, and went further by rating them above Yung Beef on the same bill — the man whose label signed them. The same piece filed them under the new kings of the streets, while being noticeably cooler about the festival's overall consistency.
The diary is thin at the moment: one date is currently on sale, and the main Spanish listings sites show no announced run of hall shows. That is the pattern rather than a warning sign — their calendar fills late, with club bookings and summer festival slots confirmed weeks out rather than months.
The live act
There is no band. The sets are built on backing tracks and the two voices, which is standard for the scene and keeps them able to play a 7,000-capacity festival field one weekend and a 500-capacity club the next without changing the show much.
Club promoters tend to buy them as a package rather than a concert: a support or warm-up act, the duo's own set, then a DJ-led party on the same ticket, often under a promoter's club-night brand. February 2026 brought a show at Isla Tortuga in Ciudad Real; through 2026 they also took slots at Zevra in Valencia in late July and the Subsónico weekend in Madrid in early June.
The show, now
A Xiyo y Fernandezz show in 2026 is a two-voice set over backing tracks, no band, pitched at festival fields and club rooms alike. Festival slots are short and early-evening — at Muralla Urbana in Alcalá de Henares on 19 September 2026 they went on at 19:50 on a five-act urban bill with Lucho RK, Raúl Clyde, D. Valentino and C Marí, with DJ Isaac Corrales covering changeovers. The set leans on the hooks: Do You Remember, Ruina and the Belladonna singles, with Fernandezz in his ski mask carrying the choruses and Xiyo the verses. Club bookings are usually sold as a show plus a promoter's club night, with a warm-up act before them and a DJ set after, on one ticket. The strongest recent notice came from FSTVL·B at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona over 17 to 19 September 2026: a review called their appearance the weekend's most important booking, said the energy held up across the whole set with every chorus landing as a peak, and rated them above Yung Beef, the label boss who signed them, on the same bill. The volume of work behind that is heavy — both have described playing more than fifty shows in three and a half months, and have talked publicly about using the label's psychologist to manage it. Only one date is currently on sale.
